Spread Peace Challenge and DUA of the DAY
Wow! Aqsa students have been participating phenomenally in spreading salaam in school. Throughout the halls, upon entering the classrooms, and when approaching the front office so much peace is being spread. The girls have been very enthusiastic about the Challenge and it has been heartwarming.
Almost all grades from junior high and high school have been participating, however 8th grade is in the lead. The students that participate the most will get a special incentive!
DUAA OF THE DAY: We will bring back the Duah Box where students can anonymously add in their written duahs and we will read them after Salaah. Another option is to email fnawab@aqsa.edu your duahs and they will be included in the collective duah. Any duahs received after 11:30 am will be included in the next school day's prayer. Look for the Duah Box in the front lobby of the school.
CAIR hosts Muslim Youth Leadership Symposium ( MYLS) at Aqsa School
After listening to a presentation given by Ahmed Rehab, Executive Director of CAIR, girls were shown a video on different ways CAIR helps the broader Muslim Community who face Islamaphobia in the nation. Friday prayer was led by Mr. Rehab. He reminded us that Muslims should always strive for the best and to always be just or adal, with our fellow brothers and sisters.
Later girls broke up into groups to tackle important issues they encounter in their communities. Students talked upon various issues ranging from problems such as global warming, poverty, volunteering, bullying, low students involvement in school, discrimination, Muslim Ban, and having a no uniform policy. Students were then asked to present a solution to their problems. Some solutions included, volunteering their time, reducing, reusing, recycling, voting and speaking to their State appointed representatives.
