Linden Athletics Monthly

A message from the Athletic Director

This month saw the end of all of our fall teams competing, but the beginning of our winter season starting. As with a lot of things in life, when one door closes another door opens and it is all about how we decide to move forward as individuals. I have witnessed a lot of our students handle adversity in a respectful way this past month and it is something to be very proud of! I know the teams are preparing hard to give our community the best version of themselves when competitions start up in the next few weeks. The students are really looking forward to be able to play in front of crowds again this winter and not having to worry about the "2 spectator rule" that we had to follow last winter. I hope everyone had a restful Thanksgiving and you all are ready for some nice cold weather coming our way! Go Eagles!!

Eagles Giving Back - Linden Athletics Community Service Project

"The Linden Cross Country team does not have a "field" or "court" for daily practice or workouts. Our sport relies on running long distance over grass, dirt, hills, and pavement. Luckily we have a pretty expansive campus that we can plan our training runs on and avoid the redundancy of running the exact same route every day. With the addition of the LAFF pathway last year, our routes and opportunities expanded substantially. The pathway has been such a huge asset to our program and we wanted to make sure we did our part to keep it clean and looking good. So for our team service project we split up into groups of 2-3 athletes and scoured the school grounds and the entirety of the pathway that is connected to our campus which we hold so dear. The teams collected MORE THAN 10 garbage bags filled with trash by the end of the day! We hope having a clean pathway will encourage others to keep it clean as well and a place where anyone in the community can enjoy some fresh air and exercise! Also, in lieu of awarding trophies to the top teams like many invitationals do, we make a monetary donation to a mid-Michigan charity in the teams' name. This year we simplified things and made donations to each school's local food bank to help fight food insecurity, which has been a big issue lately. We know this is only a drop in the buck, but we want to do our part the best we can." - Girls Cross Country Coach, Ben Cox

Total Charitable Donations from the 2021 Linden Classic - $1480

Total Charitable Donations for 2009-2019 - $15,180

A Message from the Coaches

"Middle School Wrestling had a great turn out this season with 35 wrestlers on the roster. This is one of the largest MS wrestling teams Linden has ever hard. The team is off to a great start this season coming out on top against Owosso, Fenton, and Grand Blanc. The future of Linden Wrestling looks great!" - MS Wrestling Coach, Tony Hunt

"The middle school volleyball season is well underway and both levels are seeing success! For the 7th grade teams, Linden is 5-1 and the Eagles are 6-0. For the 8th grade, Linden is 4-2 and the Eagles are 6-0. We have beaten some good teams like Clio, Swartz Creek, GB East, and Flushing. All four teams are working hard improving their skills and learning the rotation. We still have some stiff competition coming up with Davison, Lake Fenton, and Fenton before the season ends. Coach Nester, Coach Cayla, and I are having so much fun coaching such a talented and overall, great group of young ladies!" - MS and Varsity Coach, Cori Mason

Congratulations to our Cross Country Teams at State Finals

The cross country team was our last high school team competing this fall season. The boys qualified as a team to run at States and did a great job finishing 7th as a team! The team who ran consisted of Kyle Eberhard, River Meckstroth, Clayton Akerman, Ryan Blackwood, Hayden Bradfield, Miles Aeschliman, and Ian Martin with Kyle Eberhard and River Meckstroth earning All-State honors as individuals. We also had one individual qualify to represent the girls team. Ava Fahrenkoph did a great job at both regionals and states to represent Linden well! Great job all around!
