Wells Fargo/KNBR Step Up to the Plate for Education Grant
On Thursday, December 12, 2019, Holy Angels School was presented a grant of $5,000 from KNBR's Step Up to the Plate for Education program, funded by Wells Fargo. Ms. Nordman, who wrote the grant, Sister Alma, Mr. Calma, and our Student Body President, 8th grader Ceejae de Lumen, attended a reception at the San Francisco Giants stadium Oracle Park to receive the grant. Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford, along with representatives from Wells Fargo and KNBR were in attendance to present the awardees their grants.
About the grant - As a community-based bank, Wells Fargo wants to support students so they can have more opportunities to succeed in academics and in life. Holy Angels School was among 32 Bay Area schools to receive an education grant to support athletics, arts, S.T.E.M. and community-based programs. Holy Angels will use this grant to make important safety upgrades to our school, such as complete the privacy screens around the school yard.
Google Headquarters Field Trip
On Tuesday, December 17 the seventh grade class visited Google Headquarters in Mountain View. Mr. Yamsuan, who works for Loon, arranged for the students to visit the facility. The tour covered three campuses of Google. Sites included: Android park, the Google store, main campus, original campus, cafeteria and a game arcade. Students also saw the new Googleplex which is still under construction. Students loved the tour and truly enjoyed the complementary snacks and food throughout the day. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Yamsuan, Loon employee George, Mrs. Yaneth Gomez, Mrs. Gong, Mrs. Maria Gomez, Mrs. Navarro, Mr. Lactaoen, Mr and Mrs. Malabed for helping with the field trip.
It was a memorable, enjoyable experience.
Get Well Cards
Recently, Kindergarteners came into the 6th grade classroom to get some help making get well cards for Mrs. Corral. Students paired up and were able to create some very nice cards to put a smile on their teacher’s face.
