HOLIDAY CRAFT SUPPLIES NEEDED:
Second grade will be making a special holiday craft when we return from Thanksgiving Break. While you are out and about, please look for the following items:
Please send in 1 full yard of cotton, holiday print fabric by Nov. 28th. You might want to check Hobby Lobby or Joann’s Fabrics for coupons! 100% cotton works best for this project so please avoid heavy cloth that is difficult to cut. In fact, during the process, students are ripping the fabric by hand. Your child may pick any color winter or holiday print they prefer.
Students will also need 1 metal, bendable coat hanger. The sturdier ones work best.
Also, please send in one tall, regular size , empty Pringles can with the plastic lid. Please wash out the can and dry.
We have had WATCH DOGS and assemblies and all kinds of exciting things lately. Today we a had the Flower Mound Environmentalists come and teach us about recycling, reusing, reducing, composting, pollution and trees. It is always great learning and fun. I have planted several of the trees over the years and they are all growing healthy and strong. Enjoy!
Please be mindful of the weather as (hopefully) it starts to get cooler. i know sometimes we go from the house into the garage and into the car and never step outside. It is usually breezy and a little bit cooler at the top of the hill for recess. So jackets are encouraged.
We had a wonderful time with the FMHS Teen Leadership students. The lesson was on making a good first impression, eye contact, firm hand shake and posture.
Have a great weekend!

WHAT WE'VE BEEN LEARNING
Language Arts-We have been learning all about procedural texts. We are following how to do origami, recipes, how to draw, and much more. The students are also writing a variety of them on their own. We also read a story titled Those Shoes and learned about giving and wants and needs. The kids are now in full swing of their holiday book clubs. Their first round of creating a folder book report turned out so great! I am excited to see how the holiday books and reports turn out.
Science-We have been investigating magnets as part of our force and motion unit. We have learned that they are used in many things like computers, cell phones and engines.
