District Web Pages Offer Information on School Start Time Changes and Capital Improvement Project
Webster CSD is in the midst of sharing information about two important initiatives. BEGINNING IN FALL 2019, start times for elementary, middle and high schools will change. New start times will be approximately 8:45 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. for middle and high schools and 7:45 a.m. - 2:10 p.m. for elementary schools, plus or minus five minutes. The decision to move forward with this change is supported by extensive scientific research and recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the New York State School Boards Association.
The district has made this announcement now to help all families prepare for the change coming up next fall. We will be using the newly launched Start Time Initiative web page to communicate important information relative to this change. We encourage you to visit http://www.websterschools.org/districtpage.cfm?pageid=1579 for more information, FAQs, and a place to share your feedback or ask additional questions you may have. Your board will also offer a check-in on the transition to new start times during its regular meeting on October 4 at 6:30 p.m., Spry MS auditorium.
In addition, the district is sharing information on the proposed $69.5 million capital improvement project that will be up for a district-wide vote on Tuesday, December 11. Included in this proposal are state-of-the-art media centers at all elementary schools, Willink Middle School, and Webster Schroeder High School. There are also proposed renovations to the technology education wing at Webster Thomas High School, improvements to playing fields at both high schools, and the purchase of the Town of Webster’s field at Basket Road. WCSD’s transportation center will also see improvements and expansion as part of this proposed project.
Please visit http://www.websterschools.org/districtpage.cfm?pageid=1582 for more information regarding the proposed capital improvement project. Be sure to check the website throughout the fall as it will continually be updated with additional details about the project.
