Congratulations to Mrs. Sheri Phillips for being named Parsons Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Phillips is a Speech Language Pathologist at Parsons and she brings the gift of love and language to our PreK students.
Congratulations to Parsons PTA for being recognized as a National PTA School of Excellence for 2020-2021! Thank you for all you do for our students, school, and community! Our PTA is the BEST!
12 lucky students got to PIE their teacher or administrator in the face on Thursday for donating $500 to our PTA fundraiser. As the classes chanted, "Pie in the Face", the pies were thrown. It was such a fun day filled with laughter! Thank you to everyone for making our fundraiser so successful!
Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.
The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988, on the approval of Public Law 100-402.
At Parsons, we celebrate the diversity of our students. 14% of our students are Hispanic and are bilingual, speaking both Spanish and English. As a school community, we play an important role in helping students understand the importance of respect for other cultures, including language and other cultural markers. By nurturing an awareness of other cultural beliefs and customs, we cultivate a learning environment of respect. We truly are #STRONGERTOGETHER and this month it is with great honor that we celebrate National Hispanic Heritage as a school community.
CogAT Testing is next week!
GCPS Calendar Options for 2022-2023
Calendar Options Feedback
GCPS would like your feedback on the 2022-2023 Calendar Options. Please review the three options above and provide your feedback using the link below.
It’s More Than Meals…Complete meal application by Oct. 21 for added benefits
While breakfast and lunch will be provided at no charge for all GCPS in-person and digital students this school year, it still pays to complete the Free and Reduced-price Meal Application. Confirmed eligibility establishes a number of benefits for individual students such as free or discounted college-admissions tests, AP exams, college applications, scholarship opportunities, and no- and low-cost access to technology and internet plans. In addition, the percentages of qualifying students at a school are used as a measure to secure additional federal funding (Title I) to support students and their education, promote family engagement, and provide additional technology and internet access. Title I funds pay for additional teachers, Parent Centers, additional learning opportunities for students, extra resources, added technology, and more. Click the link below or use the QR code to access the application.

New Music Club info
Attention 5th graders! I am so excited to share a NEW music club coming to Parsons this year. This club is called Orff Ensemble. Orff is a teaching model where students will explore music through playful experiences and have the opportunity to create their own music. We will be using a variety of percussion instruments, especially xylophones, metallophones and glockenspiels.
*I have extended the sign-up deadline to Monday, September 20th. There are 17 spots left in 5th Grade Orff Ensemble. 4th Grade Orff Ensemble is full so there are no more spots left for that grade level. We will have another opportunity to sign up for Orff Ensemble in February.
5th Grade Orff Ensemble will meet on Thursdays from 12:15-12:45 during recess starting on September 23rd.
If you are interested in joining, please fill out the digital form below!
Please e-mail me with any questions about the ensemble,

Please try to register to join our team before the walk. We are planning to leave our school parking lot on 10/10/21, at 8 AM. The opening ceremonies begin at 9:00 AM. The walk starts at 9:30 AM and should conclude before noon.
Due to COVID-19, we will maintain safety precautions by wearing a mask if you would like to carpool. You're welcome to drive downtown as well. Don't forget to wear your Autism t-shirt to show your support. Please let me know if you're planning to join us for the Walk. Hope you can join us this year. PTA Happenings
Thank you to all the amazing families who donated to the fundraiser! Now we have so many great events and programs coming for all the students at Parsons. We reached our goal! Thank you!
Friday, September 24 is Staff Goody Day. 4th & 5th grade families are asked to please send in a small package of individually wrapped snacks, granola bars, chips, treats, fruit or cookies. Please label any items with nuts. The PTA will collect these items at the car rider line and the bus rider doors in the morning. Then your PTA parents will put the items in the staff lounge for a nice treat for all teachers and staff to enjoy!
Reflections Competition helps children think about the statement "I Will Change the World By..." and express themselves with music, photography, dance, literature, art or film production. You can simply record a short video of your child, and submit it by e-mail to: ParsonsESpta@gmail.com.
Thank you all for your amazing support!
