New Guidance from State on COVID-19
The update comes following confirmation of Alabama patient
This morning’s press conference from the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) identified the confirmation of novel coronavirus, COVID-19, in the State of Alabama. Authorities announced the patient is from Montgomery County.
Following the latest guidance from the Alabama Department of Public Health and the Alabama State Department of Education, the Tuscaloosa City Schools will implement the following new protocols as part of its Health Security and Safety Plan:
To cancel or limit any event where it would be expected to have 500 or more people gathered. This would include performances, plays, athletics, conferences, etc.
To postpone or cancel any and all field trips, whether inside or outside of Alabama.
This is an update from the March 12 TCS announcement.
These procedures will be effective through April 30, 2020 and will be reassessed at that time based on guidance from ADPH.
As a reminder, public health authorities encourage the importance of social distancing, hand washing and avoiding touching your face and staying home when ill.
The Tuscaloosa City Schools will be closed March 16-20 for spring break. Please continue to monitor the TCS website and social media for any updates which may be provided over spring break.
