Haycox News

August 20, 2021

Welcome to the 2021-2022 School Year!!

The entire Haycox staff is very excited to welcome back all of our students!

We are looking forward to supporting all students as they continue to develop academic skills, and we are also focused on ensuring our students develop a sense of wellbeing, security and safety.

Our year-long construction should be completed very soon, and we will soon have air-conditioning in all classrooms! This will provide a more comfortable environment for students and staff! In addition, we have improved our library! We hope to have created a warm, welcoming and creative space where all Haycox students can explore the world through the magic of reading! We have also created a dedicated room for students to come to make friends and play and learn together, under the supervision of our counselors!

The first day of classes will be Thursday, August 26th. We will be returning to a normal instructional day with on-site instruction!

The first three days of school, the gates will be open at 7:45 and all parents will be welcomed on campus to accompany students to their classroom, but will not be permitted to enter the classroom. It is recommended that all family members wear a mask when on campus, with the exception of children under 2 years of age.

The first day of school is August 26th!

COVID Safety Measures at Haycox and HESD

This year, our COVID Safety Protocol has been changed to reflect the current guidelines for the CDPH.

  • Screening must be done before leaving home. Families should check to ensure that students do not have a temperature or other symptoms of infectious illness.

  • All students will have their their temperature checked before entering the classroom

  • All students and staff will be wearing masks when indoors.

  • Masks can be removed when eating but it is recommended that they be worn when outdoors.

If you determine that a student has possible symptoms of infectious illness, the student should be kept home. This includes, fever, stomach upset, diarrhea, runny nose or cough.

If it is determined that these symptoms are present for any student who is on campus, they will be separated from the classroom and parents will be contacted so that the child can go home and be referred to the health care provider for testing and care.

Staff and students with symptoms of COVID -19 infection will be advised to not return for in-person instruction until they have met the VCPH criteria to return to school
