Important Student Safety Reminders
We are excited that it is Spring and we are entering the 4th nine weeks of the school year. Below are some safety reminders that were sent out in January. We want to ensure that the OHS community is aware of these items.
We are limiting the amount of movement and activity in the student parking lot. No students should be in the parking lot once school begins. Students will need permission to go to the parking lot during the course of the day. All students must exit their cars and enter the building as soon as they arrive. Students who are leaving campus for courses at the Community Colleges do not need to receive permission to be in the parking lot as long as they are leaving. All other students leaving during the day will need to sign out in the main office.
Students who are caught driving students off campus without parental permission will lose their parking privileges for the remainder of the school year. (Newly Added)
No students are permitted to be in their cars during lunch.
All cars parked on campus must have parking stickers on them at all times.
Parents/family members are not allowed in the parking lot during instructional time to drop off items in cars. If items need to be dropped off for students, parents/family members must do so in the main office.
No outside food deliveries can be made on campus from GrubHub, Uber Eats, and other food carriers that deliver food.
Parents/family members who bring food to campus must bring it to the main office. Students cannot exit the school to pick up food.
Parents/family members can only bring food for their students. Food cannot be brought for other students.
Students cannot be dropped off or picked up in the student or bus parking lot. Students must be dropped off and picked up from the front of the school.
If students are being dropped off after 9 am, a parent/guardian must enter the building to sign them in. Student drivers must arrive on campus on time for their 1st period classes (tardy bell rings at 9:00 am). Continuously being late to 1st period could result in losing parking privileges.
Students cannot stay after school to go to ball games. They must leave campus and can return at game time.
Students must be off campus by 5 pm if they are not engaging in after school activities.

UNC Schools Admissions Requirements Information
A recent update has come out from the UNC system schools about their testing policy for anyone looking to go starting in Fall 2023. As a reminder, UNC system schools are all public schools in the state of North Carolina NOT just the schools that have UNC in the name.
On February 24, 2022 the Board voted to require that any student looking to be accepted to a UNC system school must have either a 2.5 weighted GPA, a 19 ACT score, or a 1010 SAT score. Additionally, even if a student meets the minimum GPA requirement that student must still submit standardized test scores. This means that students entering a UNC system school in Fall of 2022 are the last class that do not have a testing requirement, all future classes MUST submit a test score. This policy will be in effect until Fall 2025 meaning it will affect all of you!
If you are considering going to any of the 16 UNC system schools (App State, ECU, Fayetteville State, North Carolina A&T, NCCU, NC State, UNC Asheville, UNC Chapel Hill, UNC Charlotte, UNC Greensboro, UNC Pembroke, UNC Wilmington, UNC School of the Arts, WCU, or Winston Salem State University) then please be aware that you will need to take the SAT or ACT if you haven't already done so. If you have any questions please feel free to email Ms. Butner.
Middle College Accepting Applications
As a reminder, students must also submit a copy of their transcript, discipline record, and attendance record.
All items should be sent directly William_Evans-Jr@dpsnc.net…preferably via email but they may mail or bring them by if necessary. The deadline for this application round will be May 6th and we will now accept students on a first come, first served basis. Thank you.
