Updates

  • Breakfast: This is a friendly reminder that students may not arrive before 8:30 am. Breakfast will begin at that point. If you need child care, please consider enrolling your child in AlphaBEST.

  • Arrival/Dismissal- Please remember to stay off your cell phone for safety sake. Also, please be patient and drive slowly while going through the pickup lanes. Thanks for your help with this!

  • Volunteers- We are getting more clarity on usage of volunteers this year with our COVID protocols. Teachers are beginning to assess needs and will be communicating later. Just a reminder that all volunteers must be registered with PSD before they can volunteer. For more information, go to: https://www.psdschools.org/community/volunteers.

  • Spirit Day- We'll have our first spirit day on Sept. 3 in celebration of our virtual assembly with the NED Show. Please have your student wear their Werner gear or something blue and/or white.

  • PSD Fall COVID Protocols- This flier has information about what to expect this fall to with our health/safety protocols.

When: Friday, August 27 5:00-6:30 p.m.

What: This leisurely bike parade will tour neighborhoods surrounding Werner (see map below). We encourage families to dress up with costumes! Bring a picnic dinner to enjoy afterwards while you connect with other families. Students must be accompanied by an adult. Helmets are also required for everyone.

Back-to-School Nights

The purpose of our Back-to-School nights is to orient parents to the grade level curricular program and expectations. Our 2nd-5th grade Classroom Teachers will host Back-to-School nights, virtually, on Zoom this year. The Kindergarten and 1st grade teams will host in-person nights for parents only (distanced in one of three locations on campus). Teachers will send separate communication with more details. Please mark your calendar for the following dates/times:


  • Sept. 7: Kindergarten @ 5:00 pm and 1st grade @ 6:00 pm

  • Sept. 8: 2nd grade @ 5:00 pm and 4th grade @ 6:00 pm

  • Sept. 9: 3rd grade @ 5:00 pm and 5th grade @ 6:00 pm

Update from the Library-Mrs. Powers

We are so excited to start the beginning of the school year with regular library check out this year! Every class will have a consistent library check out day (see below). This should make it easier to remember when to bring those books back. Students can bring back their books any day of the week, but for now will always be checking out on their scheduled days. Because Mrs. Rider (the new Mrs. Seavey) is new to the library we are starting out simple to get the hang of things. There will not be reservations or book holds right now. We have increased the amount of books younger students may check out so they have more opportunities for reading at home. Please help them return their books so they can keep checking them out. Here is the library check out schedule with amount of books each grade can check out. Just know that we lowered the amount of books for the first checkout but will be increasing the number with successful returns.

Volunteers Needed for FALL FUN FEST. We are super excited to be planning the return of Fall Fun Fest, September 24th! We have some major fun in store for Werner Families and need at least 10 grown-ups to volunteer so we can make it a success. Sign up HERE. Spots available for set-up, pizza and water, cashier, and clean-up.

Join Us! We have a couple positions open this year on the PTA Board. Check them out and send an email to Anjani, the PTA President, if you might be interested.

VP of Community will assist with organization of community events like, Mugs with Mentors & Donuts for Grown Ups.

VP of Fundraising will assist with organization of our fundraising events.

Community Service Chair will partner with the VP of Community for our Werner Cares & Shares outreach programs like, the Fall Food Drive and Holiday Giving Tree.
