Nuts & Bolts
December 10, 2018
Thank you
As promised by the month of December, this last week was busy and this week will be eventful as well. Thank you for those of you who attended Troy and Molly's grave side service and a special thanks goes out to those who covered classes to make that possible.
Parent Education Night Thursday went well. Thank you to the committee who planned this event, especially Kotie, Adrian, Jen, Christina, and Lana who presented. I received very positive feedback from those parents who attended. Now that the word is out, I'm hoping for an even bigger crowd at our next parent education night.
I thought the Holiday Party was super fun and I appreciated all of you who were able to attend last night. It's so nice getting away from school and small children to eat yummy food and catch up. Special thanks to Autumn for planning the beautiful night.
This week we professional learning, the last Montessori Foundations course, two nights of a JH play, a lockdown drill, and a JH dance.
Thanks and have a good week,
René
Professional Learning - December 10th
Staffing Update
Emily is no longer employed with MMA. We appreciate her contribution to the school and wish her the best moving forward.
The interviews for LE teacher and teaching assistant went well last week. We offered an assistant position to a great candidate; and, they declined to work at MMA. We have more interviews this week.
Assessment Capable Learners Cohort - Last Call!
Secret Santa - Draw is Monday!
Thank you for signing up to participate in Secret Santa at MMA. You will receive your partner on Monday and the gift-giving festivities will begin next Monday, December 17th and run through Thursday, December 20th. The max spending amount is about $15. You will secretly deliver small $1-2 gifts to your Secret Santa on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday without revealing your name. On Thursday, you will deliver your larger gift (about $10) and reveal your name.
Health Inspector Visit Feedback
We were dinged in the following areas:
- Having a thermometer in every refrigerator and freezer (2 total per appliance)
- --> If you elect to have a personal mini fridge/freezer in your classroom, you are responsible for providing the thermometers
- All chemical bottles labeled (even if it's water)
- All chemicals locked away and not accessible to students
- Warm water at proper temperature coming out of automatic faucets (although I adjusted this on the spot)
Please remedy the first three immediately if they are not already correct in your classroom. The inspector did not go into every classroom. Even if we did not go into your classroom specifically this time, the first three bullet points need to be fixed in your classroom.
