ELM MIDDLE SCHOOL’S WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
March 10, 2023
Principal's Message
Greetings Elm Families,
We hope everyone had a wonderful week. Our second trimester has come to a close, and we are officially in the last twelve weeks of the 2022-2023 school year! Our Basketball teams are prepping for Tournament Time and Scholastic Bowl had an amazing season capping it off with their tournament last night, with Varsity taking First Place!! Amazing work to all!
Students were diving into the American Revolution in Civics with Ms. Thibodeau's class doing a gallery walk to share ideas and collaborate with their classmates. Additionally, students in Mr. C's technology classes spend time deconstructing computers and learning how the hardware is composed in them.
As a reminder, any 6th or 7th grade student that has 1's for all three trimesters in Math or ELA will be recommended for summer school. Any 8th grade students with two trimester F's in ELA or math will also be recommended for summer school and furthermore not be eligible to walk in graduation.
Please take a few minutes to read through this week’s Cougar Courier. As always, should you need anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly. Have a nice weekend. #TeamElmStrong
Most Sincerely,
Ms. Ashley Groeneveld
Assistant Principal's Corner - Reflections on Trimester 2
Good afternoon Elm Families,
As many of you know, this is my first year at Elm Middle School, and with each passing trimester I am affirmed in the sentiment that this school is my new home, a place that can boast wonderful collaborative family efforts, an awesome student population that demonstrates true care for one another and consideration for their academics, and a teaching staff who possesses an unwavering growth mindset. Throughout this past trimester, our school community has demonstrated time and time again that we are student-centric with a positive culture that embedded in our daily practices.
Looking ahead to trimester 3, it is important that we refocus our learners to examine specific standards and skills that they can improve upon, be diligent in their pursuit of difficult material and share with their teachers the need for specific assistance. Treat each day as practice for a greater educational purpose; connect the varied skillsets expressed in your course work to embrace each educational opportunity. Please advocate for them to enjoy this time; as we know, it goes way to fast.
It is an honor to be apart of the Elm Middle School family; thank you!
Sincerely,
Mr. David Parolin
Assistant Principal
