Dr. Lowe's Virtual School Update
For the Week of 4/27/2020
This Day's Thought
Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket—safe, dark, motionless, airless-it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. The alternative to tragedy, or at least to the risk of tragedy, is damnation.
C. S. Lewis
This Day's Verse
Jesus continued, “You are from below; I am from above. You belong to this world; I do not. That is why I said that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am who I claim to be, you will die in your sins.”
John 8:23-24
The New Living Translation
This Day's Smile
Life without a relationship with God is like a television without the antenna.

On to Week... (Wait, what week is it?????)
Team Blue,
If you're like me, the days and weeks are blurring together and I actually had to count how many weeks we've been working virtually. We are going on week 7. Know that I'm continuing to pray for you, your students, and your families each day for health and protection in all its forms. God bless you all.
Monday evening our Board of Directors is meeting and one focus of their discussion will be approving each division's (LS/MS/US) academic plans for finishing this year well. I will have concrete information to share with you this upcoming week in another email to share the following:
- Final day of school
- Grading/GPA philosophy for Semester II
- Plan for final exams
- Valedictorian/Salutatorian
- Top 10% calculations
Once we receive more guidance from state and local officials, more information will flow to you regarding clearing out lockers, summer school, summer weight program, summer athletic opportunities, fine arts offerings, and other programs that will need new school policy regarding social distancing and safety. I wish I had more information to share with you today, but it's coming very slowly. I'm hopeful that Governor Abbott's press conference Monday will give us greater clarity.
Additionally, while we are keeping our graduation date of May 23rd, our backup graduation date is SATURDAY, JULY 25th at St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Plano. Specific time and other important information will follow as more information comes to us from local and state officials. I'm praying we can honor our seniors well in July.
This week, the Eblast looks a little different as I've added more information and a number of videos from our staff with some great information. Please take some time to review it and know POPCS is here for you.
Eagle Strong,
Dr. Lowe
