Welcome Artemio Chavez, Assistant Principal, Franklin Middle School
The Yakima School District is proud to announce the hiring of Artemio Chavez, Assistant Principal of Franklin Middle School.
Mr. Chavez is from Toppenish and graduated from Toppenish High School. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in American Ethnic Studies from the University of Washington, his Master's in Teaching from Heritage University, and his administrative certification from Central Washington University. He comes to us from the Toppenish School District where he served as the Dean of Students at Garfield Elementary School for four years. As a school administrator, Mr. Chavez supervised student discipline and school safety in collaboration with ESD 105.
Mr. Chavez brings an array of experience and knowledge in leading, implementing, and sustaining Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) at the elementary level. He prides himself in building and cultivating positive relationships with staff, students, and families. Building positive relationships has always been a cornerstone of Mr. Chavez's growth.
Artemio and his wife, Bethany, live in Selah with their three boys; Noah (10), Abel (6), and Zion (2). The Chavez family enjoys watching movies, playing games, playing and watching a variety of sports, serving at church, and spending time with their 2 dogs and chameleon. Artemio serves as a board member of Stone Church and focuses on leadership through serving others.
