Leadership Change at JKB

Paula McMillion, current principal of JKB has been named ESL/Bilingual & GT Coordinator for Anna ISD. Mrs. McMillion’s expertise in bilingual education, special education, and curriculum and instruction will continue to benefit a large percentage of Anna ISD’s student population.

We are excited to announce the appointment of Kelly Kane as the new principal for JKB. With her proven record in building relationships and her steadfast leadership, Mrs. Kane is an excellent fit for JKB. This is Mrs. Kane’s 28th year in education and her 5th year with Anna ISD. She served as the AHS counselor her first year in Anna and has been the assistant principal the past four years. Prior to Mrs. Kane’s Anna ISD career, she was a high school science teacher and an elementary and secondary school counselor. As a parent of a former JKB student, Mrs. Kane is looking forward to working with the staff in continuing to foster the caring atmosphere that is JKB.

Please take an opportunity to meet and greet Mrs. Kane on October 20, 2016 at 4:30 pm, at the next JKB PTA meeting.

This reorganization has been made after careful thought and planning of our students’ needs. I am confident the staff at JKB will ensure strong teaching and learning continues during this transition. Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Kane to the JKB family.

WATCH D.O.G.S. Program - Volunteers Needed!

We had over 300 dads & students come out to our annual pizza night! If you didn't get to make it but are interested in becoming part of our WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) Program we would love to have you! WATCH D.O.G.S. is an innovative program being used by schools across American which helps them to be positively impacted by the committed involvement of fathers and father-figures in their student's life. The goal is to have you spend at least one day this year at the school to be a positive male role model and to provide an extra set of eyes and ears. http://www.fathers.com/watchdogs/

Register for Peachjar Eflyers!!

In the past, JKB sent home loads of flyers in students’ backpacks. As part of our efforts to be more environmentally friendly and to embrace innovative technology, we are moving from paper to a digital flyer delivery.

With our Peachjar eflyer program, the eflyers will be sent directly to parents’ email inboxes as well as posted on school websites for easy access.

Each year, our schools will save tons of paper and reduce copy costs by thousands of dollars. In addition, paperless delivery of school flyers removes a significant administrative burden from teachers, office staff and volunteers.

School and school district-approved eflyers will keep you informed about upcoming school activities, programs, and events. And our children's backpacks will be a little bit lighter!
