LMS 7th Texas History Update #4
All you need to know about Texas History Class.
Binders and Supplies
I started the year with over 200 pencils for students to use when they did not have one. Those have been gone for over 3 weeks. Please check that your student has the needed supplies in their binder and/or pencil pouch.
On Friday, November 10th we will be doing a binder and supply check. I have begun to notice more and more students are coming to class without the supplies they need. We will be checking for the following:
- Their history papers are in the history section of their binder
- They have pencils and/or pens in their pencil pouch
- They have blank paper
This will be for a grade. Students were told last week that we would be having this check so they have had time to prepare for it.
In addition, every student was given an agenda at the beginning of the year to keep in their binder. They are supposed to be writing in their agenda daily. I post my entire week on Monday so many copy it down then. If you ever want to know what we are doing in class ask them to pull their agenda out and show you.
Test Friday
Chromebooks
Little Elm ISD is a Digital 1:1 district. This means each student grades 4-12 will be issued a computer to use throughout the school year.
We do not have a traditional textbook for Texas History. We depend on students having their computer to get access to needed information. So not having a computer is not a good option for students.
We have a few students who are consistently forgetting to bring their computers or to remember to charge them at home at night. This is a problem for many reasons.
- We do not have loaner computers for students to borrow.
- We do not have extra chargers for the students to borrow.
- Due to the age of the building and the fact that they did not need additional outlets for charging computers when it was built, we do not have a way for multiple students to charge their computers in class.
- Having multiple chargers stretched across the room is a safety hazard.
Students who repeatedly fail to bring their computers and/or have them charged will be reported to the administrators and face possible discipline.
