St. Maria Goretti Catholic School aims to form what is True, Good, and Beautiful in the souls of our young disciples of Christ.
Principal's Message
Dear St. Maria Goretti Catholic School Families,
Our first Home and School Meeting of the year is on Tuesday, September 20th, at 7:00 PM in the cafetorium. Home and School is our parent organization and YOU automatically become a member when you pay your dues at the beginning of the year. I would like to see at least one parent from every family in attendance to support our school. We will have child care that evening. See the Home and School Corner later in the Trojan Times. There will be a lot of information about KK presented at this meeting, including a presentation from Mrs. Parker about student organization and self-advocacy, and a performance by our 3rd-grade class. Parents who attend earn a Spirit hour and your child(ren) will earn a jeans dress-down day on Friday, September 23, 2022. Please come and support YOUR school.
There will be an 8th-grade parent meeting in the library from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 20th. We will be discussing all things 8th grade. Cassata High School and Nolan Catholic principals will be on hand to discuss the enrollment process for next year.
Please remember that SMGCS will NOT be participating in North Texas Giving Day. This year we will only be participating in IGiveCatholic on November 29th. Please consider donating to your school at that time.
Kountry Karnival planning is in full swing. Please reference the Special KK Edition of the Trojan Times to volunteer to work that day or donate any items.
Please pray for the Executive Members of the Home and School Board.
St. Maria Goretti, Pray for Us!
Blessings,
Amy Utendorf, M.Ed.

Volunteer Spotlight
We want to recognize Ms. Denni Grant, a wonderful 1st grade parent. She has volunteered as a Room Coordinator and helped with lunch duty, Kountry Karnival, and ticket sales at Mass. We see her and appreciate the time and energy she offers our wonderful school. Thank you for being an awesome SMG volunteer.
Looking ahead.......
Home and School Association is having a meeting Tuesday, Sept. 20th, at 7 pm. We invite all parents to join us in the cafetorium to share in fellowship and community. Did I mention we’ll be giving away prizes and by attending you will earn your students a jean day? We will be presenting some insightful information.
- Mrs. Parker and our wonderful Social Worker Interns will be presenting some valuable information during our meeting: "Self-Efficacy, From the Roots Up". Is your child struggling with organizing themselves this year? Does it feel like you have tried everything to help your child in their academics? If you relate to these statements, come join a presentation given by the UTA social workers about Self Efficacy! During this time there will be discussion around helping your child find their independence, but further than that there will be ways to help you as a parent facilitate this growth in your child. We look forward to seeing you on September 20th!
- We will also hear from Mrs. Sferra and Mrs. Perez about all the ways we can help with Kountry Karnival.
- Mrs. Bradley plans to share the importance of SCRIP and how we can get the most out of it.
- Mrs. Richards will lead our wonderful 3rd graders in song.
We will provide childcare, as this is an adult only meeting. Please RSVP if you will need childcare. If you have middle school children that would like to help with childcare and earn service hours or you would like to volunteer to help with childcare, please sign up in the link provided.
