Grade 1
Our first graders are making great progress learning the routines of the Workshop Model in reading, writing, and math. Over the next few weeks as their independence increases we will be able to begin working with small groups and individual student to differentiate their instruction. In science, children are learning what a scientist is and about the scientific method. They have learned how scientists and engineers design objects that solve problems and make our lives easier.
Just a quick note from Ms. Grimes...I had a great time in Mrs. Randall's class drawing our penguin illustrations!!!!
Grade 2
Be a BUDDY, not a BULLY! That was the message today by the awesome presentation of BMX biker! Our students were mesmerized by the show, and especially the message. Thanks to the MKG PTA for providing this exciting and informative presentation this morning! A great way to kick off the 4th Annual Fun Run.
Grade 3
Grade three classrooms are having daily morning meetings focusing on learning social skills and building classroom communities. We have been concentrating on the concept that we all have individual personalities, interests, and experiences that make us unique, yet, we also have commonalities that bring us together as a collective group.
Grade 4
We are expanding place value knowledge into adding, subtracting, and problem solving with larger numbers. In Science we are studying landforms and learning about the scientific method. As readers and writers we are sharing our thinking about reading through discussion and sticky notes.
Grade 5
Grade 5 continues to lead our school is a respectful and responsible way!!! We will soon begin our reading journals. The students look forward to writing letters to their teachers, as well as hearing back from their teachers about the books they are reading.
