St.Paul, [Pigs Eye Landing]

Come check out our grand city!

French Canadian fur trader, Pierre "Pigs Eye" Parrant, established an area on the river, in what is now St. Paul. In the 1840's it became a popular place for traders to stop and was known as "Pig's Eye Landing". About the time of 1841 St.Paul became the official name of the area known as Pig's Eye Landing. St. Paul is important because it was settled as an important trading center in the 1840's and it still is a large trading and business area for all. St. Paul is the second largest city in the state of Minnesota. St. Paul grew large because it is near Fort Snelling, started in 1819, the first major United States military base in the area. It is located near the Mississippi River, a river used for portaging goods like furs and whiskey. It is a perfect city for your trading needs when you come to town from your acres of beautiful prairies and forest lands that you have waiting for you in Minnesota!
