My Country:
The country I was given for the European Union (E.U) project was Cyprus. The date that Cyprus joined the E.U was May, 2004. It was not one of the founding countries for the European Union. It was also not part of another country at some point.
The Flag🇨🇾
The flag shown above is what Cyprus' flag looks like. A brief history about this flag is it was adopted in 1963 as the official flag. There is a yellow island that represents Cyprus. Below it, is 2 crossed green olive branches. And the background is plain white.
Location
Cyprus is located near the north eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea and to the south of Turkey. The coordinates are 35° N, 33° E

Capital And Major Cities

The capital of Cyprus is Nicosia it is located near the centre of the Mesaoria plain, on the banks of the River Pedieos. Some major cities are Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos, and Famagusta.
Limassol is the 2nd largest urban area in Cyprus. It is on the southern coast of Cyprus. Larnaca is known for their palm tree seafront, it is also home to the primary airport, Larnaca International Airport. Famagusta is on the east coast of the island and possesses the deepest harbor on the island. And lastly Paphos, it is a coastal city in the southwest. It is also the Greek goddess Aphrodite's home land.
Government And Money
Cyprus' form of government is presidential republic. Their current president is Nico Anastasiades. Each president has 5 years and can only renew once. Their money currency is Euros. Before they used Cypriot pounds.
Tourist Attractions
Here are a couple of tourist attractions- starting with the St. Hilarion Castle, One of the Mediterranean's most beautiful castle ruins is in Cyprus. The view is said to be phenomenal from the top. Next is Cape Graco. Cape Graco is a coastal national park with a lot of walking trails. Also in spring time this is where all the orchids bloom. And finally is Tomb Of The Kings near Paphos. This large necropolis is thought to have been the burial sites of Paphitic aristocrats and high officials.
Physical Features
The first physical feature I chose is Mount Olympus. It is the highest point in Cyprus and is the highest peak part of the Troodoo Mountains. Next is the pedieos river. It is the longest river in Cyprus and is 61 miles. It's mouth is the Famagusta Bay. Another one is Larnaca Salt Lake which is a network of four salt lakes of different sizes to the west of the city of Larnaca. The largest is lake Aliki. Lastly is the Kyrenia Mountains, The Kyrenia Mountains is a long, narrow mountain range that go's on for 160 km along the northern coast of the island of Cyprus.
