Who Am I?

I'm Kimberly, a 15 year old year girl, turning sixteen in November. I was born in Mississauga, Ontario where I lived next to Square One and other shopping centers which formed my love of shopping and eating out. I have an unhealthy obsession with Italian sweets and Greek food, which is thanks to all the small cafes that were located walking distance away from me when I was younger. I tend to watch movies from the 1980's and listen to music from that time as well. I also like to listen to music from a different range of artists like Amy Winhouse, to bands like The Arctic Monkeys but I'll always have a love for rap and soca/reggae music. I like to read and occasionally write though I don't think it's any good, but I'm working on it anyways. I tend to be a bit aggressive and competitive but those are two traits that I like about myself. I moved to Brampton when I was about 6 and I've been living here ever since, though there may be plans to move back to Mississauga in the future. I don't know what to say since I don't exactly like to talk about myself to people. And I guess that's another thing about me to. I like to reciprocate. If you talk about yourself I'm more comfortable talking about myself. I'm not sure what else to say, or what else you want to know, so have fun scrolling through my smore.

My Life Line: A Gallery of Pictures from My Life

July 18th, 2009

This was my first road trip. I was only 8 year old and my mom's intermediate side of the family came along with us. We drove from Mississauga, Ontario to Queens, New York. It was significant since it made me realize how much I hate road trips. Though once we got there it was sort of relaxing until we had to drive back. This is why this trip was so significant, I learned how to read directions and how to tell people where to go and what to do. It was sort of a breaking point for me, I learned how to be an aggressive person and that I should trust my gut.

My Favourite Things:

My Leadership Style

I believe that my leadership style is a 'persuader'. Not because it's the only type of leadership that I've shown, but it's one of the leadership style that I use the most. I believe that I'm persuader because I like to take in account how other people are going to feel, or if I was in there position I would like to be asked what I would prefer to do. I think I'm a persuader because when people don't know what part of a project they want to do, I'm normally the one to tell them 'hey, you're good at this' and 'why don't you do this part of the project?' and questions and statements along those lines.
I may not always be a persuader and my second most relate-able persuader style would have to a 'delegator'. Why would this be my second most relate-able leader style? Well I am team crew captain and people often don't know what to do and how to do it. So instead of just telling them 'do this' and 'do that' I like to break everything down. And give them what our goal is and that we have to do this first and do that first. It's almost like a teller, but I don't like to just give people to do the only one job, I want my whole team to work together and this is why I believe I'm also a delegator as well as a persuader.

My Influences

My influences range from a variety of people, since I'm often very indecisive and I have a hard time making up my mind. But if I had to narrow it down it would have to be Winona Ryder, my friends and a girl I know named Simone. They are all my influences though they all affect my life in different ways. For example, Winona Ryder is my influence from an amazing performance that she did, my friends since they all have different views and personalities and they are able to accept who I am and lastly, my acquaintance, Simone.

Winona Ryder is one of my influences because she gave an amazing performance in one of my all time movies ever, Heathers. This is when I first discovered who Winona Ryder is and she automatically got me hooked. After watching her in Heather's I continued to watch her in her other movies like; Edward Scissorhands and BeetleJuice. Her acting sort of inspired me. Which is why she is one of my role models.By the way the movie is kind of a weird movie but I love it nonetheless. And it was made in 1988 so it's kind of a terrible song choice and of terrible quality but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Heathers trailer

My second influence would be my friends since they are always there for me and always around. They all are so helpful and they all are different and just as opinionated as I am. It's a nice balance since I am very argumentative and I like having people to fight with that won't get hurt by what I say. This is why they influence me, they are all much more calm and relaxed than I am and this is why my friends influence me to be who I am.

Finally, the last influence I have is a girl I know named Simone. She is my influence because she writes these amazing books online and it makes me want to make my own writing better than it already is. Simone influences me since she isn't afraid to write what she wants and she writes all different genres with her own twist on it. This is why Simone is a big influence in my life. That and I'm 100% jealous of her writing because she just so good at it and it makes me so sad.

My Role Model

My role model is Alessia Cara. The reason she is my role model is because she makes me inspire. She a twenty-year old singer who was born in Brampton, Ontario and was recently discovered by a music label and now she's opening at awards ceremonies and making amazing music.

Alessia is a role model to me because her music is hers. She is able to get to message across through music. And not to forget she is very blunt with what her message is as well. The main reason she is my role model is because she inspires me, and I know I already mentioned that but it's something that doesn't come across often since I'm a very picky person in a sense.

When looking at videos of her talking at interviews or to paparazzi, she stays cool and calm and just acts like herself. Not to mention she runs her own Vevo account and her older music videos were all produced by her and in the description bar underneath the video, she has these little messages about what the video is about and just a few comedy pieces. Even though she is starting to now produce more professionally made videos. She still likes to talk to her fans and be very involved in her musical upbringing.

Also, she shares the same love of artists as I do. One big artist that we both love is Amy Winehouse, I would've wrote about her but she had died when I just started to listen to her music. That and as soon as I finished writing all of the paragraphs, twice since it wanted to be deleted to first time, I was just over re-writing anything. But it's not like Alessia isn't my role model, she is. Amy Winehouse is just a little bit of a bigger role model.

My Future

A screen writer:

So far in my quest of finding out what I want to be in life hasn't been that successful since I can't figure out what I want to be. But so far the only job that I have found an interest in would have to be screen writing. Screen writing is basically the script that actors and actresses use when rehearsing and it's the script that they follow. I'm not exactly sure why this, out of all the jobs that involve writing, interest me. I think it's because script writing just comes so naturally to me since it's an easier form of a story, with just a small amount of actions in the writing. The script writing I want to do is for movies and t.v shows and things along those lines.

I plan to become a script writer by majoring in English during University and maybe travelling to California for a year or two to see if I can obtain any jobs or internships which could hopefully lead to a job in script writing. I'm dying to go to McMasters but I never really researched their Language courses. So that's also something that I have to decide. While reading Mindy Kaling's "Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns)" she mentions how she tried to enter and work for NBC ore ABC and she sent a letter in but they had told her that they don't open any letters with a script inside without a 'marketer' or agent. So obviously that has to be one of my first priorities before I begin looking for a job. Hopefully I'll be able to find out that I can get a job within the deadline that I have, one to two years, before I can come back to Canada and start a job search over here. The only reason that I wouldn't search in Canada first is because our production industry isn't that big, but hopefully, by the time I'm ready to graduate, Canada will have a larger production industry.

Not to mention, I am in love with the font you get to use as a screen writer. Because I know if I were to hand that in for an English essay, I would fail. I think a part of why I want to be a screen writer is because of my love for the type writer font. It's sort of an issue.

Learning Styles Test

This test felt kind of weird. I'm not sure how because it is true. In different subjects I have different learning styles, but it sucks when their each split so evenly. And even though it says I am a 'visual-kinesthetic' learner, I think I'm just a visual learning. I mean being hands on is fun and whatever else, but I think I'm just a visual learning. I like to be hands on when it requires me to takes notes and make an end results; like science. But I don't like to hands on in subjects like math and English. I like getting a sheet of paper and doing it only when it has a purpose. I don't like to do work on a piece of paper and it being an 'about me' survey or something stupid like that, I would rather be hands on.

Personality Test

This is probably the only quiz I believe in 100% since I've done quizzes like this before and gotten a response that was somewhat the same. The only reason I believe this is somewhat true is because I like to know things about myself that are more related to personality.

I know that I'm argumentative and straight-forward an tend to be very blunt and this is proven when I did the test and read it over. I like to have facts and reasoning to back up my opinions though I may not always be right which is another traits of being ENTP.

Not to mention I like to flatter myself so when it says that I have a personality type like Steve Jobs and Benjamin Franklin, I'm obviously going to believe it more because I like the idea that I'm bound for something amazing like those two have/had great lives that are written in history.

Interests Test

My top interest, believed by 'myblueprint' is a technician. This quiz is kind of iffy. I honestly have no idea what I want to be when I grow up which sucks since I had to randomly select my courses. But I'm not sure how to feel about this interest. Yes the facts prove this but I believe I'm a very complicated person. I used to want to be a vet for 10+ years of my life and then I realized that this may not be what I want to do anymore. So I'm also very indecisive.

This does make sense in some ways. I mean, it seems to be an interest of mine now since it was brought up because I tend to keep re-thinking and going through different scenarios , etc.

Knowledge Test

I don't agree with this statement at all. Though the quiz told me my 'top' subject area is English, it really isn't. English is actually one of my worst subjects, in fact, it is my worst subject. In my mind, I believe that math, French and Media Arts are my best subjects. Which I get doesn't really add up with a job I want to pursue.

For example, I wouldn't mind being a writer, but English isn't my strongest subject just because of all the unnecessary things that are in the course. I believe if English were to focus more on units that would help improve grammar, speech, etc that maybe it would be my top subject area. But since I was young, English hasn't been my strong suit. I mean, I don't blame the site, I do want to be a writer and I'm guessing that they match writing with English.

Though they were wrong about my first and third area choices; English and Science. They did sort of get my second one right. I love to learn new languages, French is usually one of my highest marks whenever I receive my report card. I dying to learn Latin and maybe even Spanish, I'm not sure. But I do love learning do languages and I'm kind of happy. Though it wasn't my first answer, At least I know some on the things on the quiz actually match up.

Motivations Test

This quiz tells me that my top motivation factor is working conditions and I've never trusted a test so much. Now this is one of the quizzes I actually believe is true. I tend to be a picky person when it comes to cleanliness, especially when I don't know where it comes from. It also includes being indoors and stress and noise level that makes me believe that this quiz speaks some sort of truth.

But it's not just working conditions that they got right, the next two in line where independence and achievement which are two things that I strive for. I like to work alone, having a helping hand here and there is nice but I like to own up to my work as well as I like to achieve something. I don't like to work without a purpose. I mean, what's the point of working if you feel like you aren't going to accomplish anything. I just need a goal at the end. ie. to get the civics/careers credit.

Multiple Intelligences Test

My strongest ‘multiple intelligence would be kinesthetic, in second would be a three way tie between existential, verbal and intrapersonal. In third place we have logical and naturalistic. Fourth it’s a tie between musical and visual. And lastly we have interpersonal, which actually makes a lot of sense. I’m not that good at reading people or understanding what a crowd wants sometimes, so this isn’t much of a surprise. The most surprising result would have to be naturalistic for me because I don’t believe I’m that ‘close’ with nature it’s just certain aspects and I guess it may show as if I’m someone who likes to be outdoors, but it’s more of an once in awhile basis. Though it’s starting to be summer now and I’m mainly basing my answer off the upcoming weather and the fact that I occasionally like to go out to run in this weather, during the winter I stay inside 24/7.

I’m not exactly sure how to feel about kinesthetic being my strongest MI because it doesn’t really match up with the way I learn. And it may not have any connection to the kinesthetic being a strong MI for me but it could. Because I learn best when I just get a slip of paper with instructions and if I need help I would ask, and that’s not really hands-on. It’s more visual and audio. So these is kind of interesting since I would peg that my strongest MI would be verbal. Since I like to talk a lot and I like to write as well. But isn’t that bad since I’m starting to get myself to read the things I write outloud and I’m a person who likes to question if what I’m doing is right or maybe I should change this, or this and I like the face that since I am like that I think it’s a nice reassurance to think that hey, this is one of my strong suits, and that I know what I’m doing and I like what I’m doing.

True Colours Test

The Document Test:

I somewhat agree with the true colours assignment, but there is still some facts I’ve yet to agree with or see the truth to. I don’t agree with the two sections; ‘responsible gold’ and ‘adventurous orange’. I may have scored low with the adventurous part, but the statement is what I agree with. I think that I have a need for excitement and adventure and I do tend to act on impulse occasionally. But one thing is true and it is that I’m very competitive and even if the rest may not be as true, or if I’m in denial, I know that I am competitive and that’s how I know this section wasn’t correct. I believe these are a few characteristics that describe me and I take pride in those characteristics, so the idea that ‘adventurous orange’ was on of my lower scoring sections is something that I don’t believe is true. The same goes with ‘responsible gold’, though I am responsible to a degree, I don’t believe the statement that comes with it. “Your basic needs are for structure, security and to be of help to other” that sentence alone seems quite false to who I am. I regularly despise structure, I like to have a bit of chaos because it keeps things interesting. Helping others is something I don’t mind but that’s not really something my personality should do because I’m very short tempered and helping other often causing that temper to shorten even more. But I will agree with that fact that I am very loyal, because I like to flatter myself.

I do agree with some parts of the test though. I agree with the ‘curious green'. I like to be considered smart, as much as I like people to think that. I mean I guess I am a little above average, but nothing special and just because of that I like to think of myself as someone who is smart. I also agree with that statement of self-motivation. I like to flatter myself a lot, taking note to the paragraph above. I believe it is some kind of form of self motivation so I do agree with curious green and I’m happy it’s one of my higher ranking boxes.

The Online Test:

My result is slightly different for the fact that in this document, I had a tie between ‘curious green’ and ‘responsible gold’ but rather in the true colours test I had one clear overall answer which was curious green, but instead of responsible gold being next, it was adventurous orange, like I had hoped for it to be as I explained in the two paragraphs above. I think they are the same because I know myself in some way, not all of me, but some and I guess that knowledge, no matter where it is tested, still gives me the same result. I had disagreed with ‘responsible gold’ and I was correct since it was one of my lower ranking boxes in the test. The only one I haven’t commented on would be ‘harmonious blue’ since it’s my lowest ranking in both the document and the online test. I wasn’t really surprised, since I wasn’t banking on it to be as important. But I think I’m happy with my results and I’m not as surprised as I thought I would be.
