FALL MATH DISTRICT ASSESSMENT 11/9

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Students in grades 3, 4 and 5 will take the DVISD Math District Assessment on November 9th. This test will be on the computer and is designed to be completed within 2 hours. Students will only be tested on content that has been taught this school year.

We need your assistance with a few important things.

 It is important for your child to get a good night’s sleep each night. Being completely rested will help your child do their best.

 Eating nutritious meals has also been shown to help students perform under stress.

Eating a healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner and limiting sugar intake will help keep

students alert for longer periods of time.

 Encouraging students to do their best will help them feel more confident on the day of

the test. Giving your child positive words of encouragement on a daily basis will let

them know you are supporting them on test day.

The teachers at Collins appreciate all you do to help your child succeed academically! Feel free to contact your child’s teacher with additional questions about test day.

UPDATES FROM THE LIBRARY

Fall Book Fair:

Our fall book fair is just around the corner! Our Literati book fair will be in our library November 11th-18th. All proceeds from the book fair will benefit the Newton Collins Library.

You can shop our book fair in person or online by visiting our online book fair website.

Want to buy a book for a student in need? Purchase a book fair gift card and send it to our librarian, Ms. Amy at amy.gonzalez@dvisd.net. She will share it with a student in need so that they can buy a book.

Interested in purchasing a Literati Book Clubs subscription? When you subscribe to Literati Book Clubs, you will receive a box of books tailored to your children's needs each month. In addition, 10% of your monthly subscription fee will benefit the Newton Collins Library! This is a great way to get new books for your children each month and to support our library!

One School, One Book Update:

For our One School, One Book initiative, we are reading Wishtree by Katherine Applegate. To celebrate reading the book together, we are making a beautiful, hand-made wishtree for our library. We are collecting green, light green, orange, yellow, and red tissue paper so that we can make leaves for the tree. If you have any tissue paper in these colors on hand that you can donate, please drop it by the front office. Thank you so much!
