Homework

Math Homework will consist of playing cards and dice games. Student will need to have a set of dice, playing cards, or index cards at home. The students will also need a partner, a quiet place to work, and something to write on. The first few weeks will consist of games that will be played in place of worksheets/paper pencil practice. As we progress through the year however, the Math homework will become more traditional to ensure certain processes are being practice to reinforce classroom learning.

Vocabulary Homework will consist of flash card practice with definitions. We find that if a student is able to know what a word means, reading comprehension is easier. Students will be responsible for taking a Vocabulary Test at the end of the week. The first few weeks, the test will be a paper copy. Once the students receive their chromebooks, the test will be taken on the computer.

Reading Homework will consist of sustained reading for 30 minutes. Students will document their reading homework on their reading log: Date, School/Home, Title of book, Amount of Time, and the amount of pages read. Reading Logs will be the responsibility of the student.
