Join Us for this MRESC Legal Series event with school law expert and attorney, Ms. Lisa Burleson
An in-depth refresher on the broad-sweeping changes in Ohio’s truancy and attendance laws that went into effect with the 2017-2018 school year, and the changes made to Ohio’s new attendance laws through the “education deregulation” bill (SB 216) this August (2018).
The discussion will also include a review of best practices in attendance communications and truancy interventions involving students and families, and a thorough review of old practices versus new laws in regards to student attendance, excused versus unexcused absences, home instruction and related special education issues.
Registration Fee:
- $25 per person - Shelby, Logan, Hardin, Madison, and Champaign County Public Schools/Districts, Career Centers, and Boards of DD.
- $40 per person - Districts and agencies not listed above.

Truancy Law & Attendance Compliance Legal Update
What time should I arrive at the training site? Please arrive 15 minutes early to complete the check-in process. The workshop is being held in Bellefontaine High School's Distance Learning Center - DLC at (555 East Lake Avenue, Bellefontaine, OH, USA)
Food & Beverage: Bottled water and assorted breakfast bars will be available at the beginning of the session. While coffee or other food will not be served, participants are free to bring snack items for themselves or to share with the group. Please plan accordingly…..
What You Should Bring? Participants should bring note taking materials and writing utensils with them to the session.
Our Cancellation Policy - Cancellations must be received 11 days prior to the event. Cancellations receive outside of this policy will not be accepted. Attendees and/or employing districts will be billed accordingly.
