Menu Changes
Due to the inclement weather all GCS cafeteria locations were unable to accept deliveries from our distributor this week and will need to alter the scheduled menus for next week.
The daily breakfast and lunch menus for Monday, January 24th through Friday, January 28th will vary by school and will be developed based on each school’s existing inventory.
Cafeteria staff will share their individual menus for the week with school administration on Monday when all GCS locations are open.
On Monday, January 24th, our Fork Shoals Cafeteria will be serving pizza instead of the chicken bites. We will let you know when we hear of the other changes.
Kids Heart Challenge
Our American Heart Association Kids Heart Challenge event is officially underway! Your student is learning about heart, brain and vascular health, and meet kids with special hearts!
Here’s how you can help:
- Register: http://www2.heart.org/goto/ForkShoals – the website is NOW LIVE so please register today! Our goal is to have every student registered online!
- Take the challenge: Be Active or Be Kind
- Share with friends and family through social media, text and/or email
You can help our class win the classroom challenge! Our goal is to have 100% of our students register online and take the challenge. The class in each grade level with the most students registered will earn a $25 Amazon gift card!

Guidance for Return after Quarantine or Isolation
In order to return early due to an exposure, you must provide a negative test. If you go to one of the district sites, you will receive an email at the same time we do with updated guidance of return. If you go to another medical site (doctors office, DHEC, etc.), there is an email address you send the results to and you will also get an email at the same time as us with updated return day. If you do a home-test, you must complete the At-Home test attestation form that will be attached to the original guidance email and send the results to Mrs. Reid at kreid@greenville.k12.sc.us in which you will then get updated guidance from Mrs. Reid. Once again, you will only send at-home negative test results to Mrs. Reid. All other results are either sent to the email given in the guidance or automatic when going to a district site.
The negative test can not be taken until on or after quarantine day 4 and does not give a return date until day 6 with mask wearing being a requirement through day 10.
If your child is positive, the guidance will state a return day which is early IF the child has an overall improvement of symptoms and fever free without medication for at least 24 hours. Students would then have to wear a mask through the 10th day.
Students are able to complete assignments that they can while at home. Your child's teacher will help you with that communcation. Your child will be counted absent; however, it is coded in a way that indicates why they are absent and therefore excused
Again, all of this information must be received in the guidance that is sent to you; however, we wanted to give you an idea. We know this is a lot of information and can be confusing. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. We appreciate your support as we work through all of this together.
