Welcome to the Prairie Point Panther Press!
Principal's Letter
Dear Parents:
It was bittersweet for all of us at Prairie Point to say goodbye to Mrs. DeMont today. Beginning on Monday, Mrs. DeMont will step into her new role as Principal at Fox Chase Elementary School. I have very much enjoyed working alongside Mrs. DeMont and I am sad to see her leave Prairie Point. That said, I know that this is a wonderful opportunity for her. I wish her the best of luck and look forward to working with her, once again, as a fellow principal within our district.
The process for hiring our new assistant principal will begin next week. Until our assistant principal is named, our building will be supported by myself, Mrs. Lenz and district administration. We will maintain our focus on student learning and continue the good work at Prairie Point. I am very fortunate to work with a strong educational team.
Both Mrs. DeMont and I are thankful for your kind words over the past few days and look forward to welcoming our new assistant principal at Prairie Point.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Dr. Jennifer Groves

Walk on Wednesday
It was great to finally have the sun shining this morning for our last Walk On Wednesday this year. 48.7% of our students walked to school today. That amounts to 235 Prairie Point students. Ms. Anderson’s 2nd grade had 69.2% of her students walk today to earn the Golden Shoe Award. 2nd place goes to Mrs. Paluch’s 3rd grade class with 68.0% of her students walking and Mrs. Brougham’s 1st grade class rounds it out in 3rd place with 63.6% of her students walking.
W.O.W. THANK YOU!
Thank you to all of our parent volunteers who helped each Wednesday during our recess W.O.W.
Congratulations to all our Students who Walked to School throughout the month of October and to all of those students who participated in our Recess Walks. Great Job Panthers!!

News from the LRC
We completed another successful book fair last week. Thank you to those who supported us through purchases and volunteering. Our proceeds will enable us to acquire more materials for our library. The next book fair will be concurrent with the Holiday Shop in December.
A record number of students participated in our October pumpkin gallery. They decorated pumpkins to represent children's books (see photos).

Reading Rewards for your Student(s)
Prairie Point students have the opportunity to earn 30 minutes of free jump time at Sky Zone in Aurora!
Students need to read 5 books on their own or with a parent. Then, they may record the book titles on the Sky Zone provided bookmark (sent home this week via your child's Thursday folder). Students should have their teacher and parent sign the spaces to validate the reading achievement. Once the bookmark is completely filled in, simply bring the bookmark to Sky Zone Aurora to receive one free 30 minute jump pass. Happy reading!

· Shortness of breath or wheezing (not controlled with an inhaler if they have asthma)
· A cough that interrupts his/her normal activity or wakes them, or other family members at night.
