In The Know
It’s School Choice Time - Come see what our schools offer! - In Eugene School District 4J, every school offers an excellent education for our students. Students may enroll in their neighborhood school at any time, or may request to enroll in a different 4J school provided there is space available. School choice requests will be accepted in an order determined by lottery. To be included in the lottery, 4J residents must apply (4jschoolchoice.com) by January 31 at midnight. Non-district residents must apply between March 1 and 31. All students who want to obtain a transfer must apply, including new incoming siblings and students who have moved but want to stay enrolled at our school. School visits are scheduled in the month of January. If you have any friends or family members who are considering school choice, please invite them to come and learn more about our wonderful school and their school choice options!

MLK March - The local NCAAP would like to invite you to their 2020 MLK march. They will gather at 9:00am at PK Park in front of the X's and O's. The march will start at 10:00am and they will march to The Shedd Institute where we will have a program in honor of Martin Luther King JR.
Oregon Rotary Model United Nations - Please share this information with any interested students. Registration has been extended through January. The Rotary Club of Eugene is hosting, for the second year, the Oregon Rotary Model United Nations(ORRMUN)! We looking for high school students who may want to participate in ORMUN. We hope to have all Eugene and Springfield high schools have one or more delegations participate.
To find out more information about the ORRMUN, you and/or your students can go to this web site to view videos and slideshows to get a feel for the MUN (MUN 2019 video) and what to expect (MUN Student Video):

The most important thing about applying is that students absolutely need to have the weekend of April 18-19, 2020 open to participate. Rotary has raised the funds needed for all accepted students to participate. We are NOT going to ask any students, parents, advisors or schools to pay to have their students participate. We also want students to know that they can do this! We provide student delegations (two students) with an adult advisor (any interested adult can apply to be an advisor or we will supply one), training on how to prepare for the MUN conference, research resources, and examples of previous MUN work products. THE ORRMUN will be a fantastic experience for participants and it also will look great on college applications and resumes.
We would love to see your student(s) in a delegation this year! If you wish, a member of the ORRMUN Committee can speak to you about the MUN and answer questions.
Thank you very much for your time. If you have any questions or comments, please contact Jerry Harris at your convenience at gwharris@comcast.net or by calling at the number below.

Oregon High School Invitational Table Tennis Championships - As Supervisor of the Eagle Point High School Table Tennis Club, and Tournament Director, it is my extreme pleasure to invite every high school student in the State of Oregon to the inaugural EPHS State of Oregon High School Invitational Table Tennis Championships, happening at the Bob Keefer Rec Center in Springfield Oregon, March 14, 2020 from 8 to 4 PM.
Below are the official entry forms that you can print out and hand out to interested students.

There are two tournaments, one starting near 9 AM and the other around 12:30 PM. Please check the website for further details. Bottom line, we are prepared to handle many high school ping pong (aka table tennis) playing students that this great state has to offer.
