Why is Texting While Driving Bad?
Well did you know that In 2011, at least 23% of auto accidents involved phones. That's 1.3 million crashes! 1 in 5 of all ages have been in a car accident because of texting while driving. Texting while driving makes crashing up to 23 times more likely. Even 34% of drivers have admitted to texting while driving. Teens who text while driving spend 10% of the time outside the lane. In 2010 an experiment with Car and Driver magazine editor Eddie Alterman, which took place at a deserted air ship, showed that texting while driving is even worse then driving while you are intoxicated! While legally drunk, Eddie's stopping distance from 70 mph increased by 4 feet. There are people who think that texting while driving isn't a problem and I'm here to tell you it is!
