Dear Parents,
Welcome to the 2015-2016 School year! I am very excited to be working with you and your student this year! I have enjoyed meeting each of them this past week and look forward to getting to know them all better over the course of the coming weeks.
I will be sending out a newsletter weekly to keep you updated on classroom and school events. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have any questions or concerns about your student`s education! I am always available to meet and discuss what is best for your student!
Sixth grade is a very exciting year, packed equally with rigorous academics and fun events. We strongly encourage and work to cultivate student independence, resourcefulness and self reliance as they transition into middle school, and we know how valuable parents are in this process.
Email is the best form of contact, I check my email in morning before school and during my prep time. I will make all possible efforts to respond to you within a 24 hour period.

Math Homework
To help our students develop strong mathematical reasoning skills, please allow your student to make sense of all the mathematical problems in their homework as best they can, on their own. Encourage their thinking, ideas, connections, and insights! The emphasis in class is not the what but the how and the why. They will receive full credit for a genuine attempt at the work, when they come in prepared and able to explain where they got stuck and what they understood. In this way, we can use their thinking and reasoning as a platform to extend, and make sense of the concepts through their own understanding.
I am always available to meet with and help your student during lunch, My office days are set aside as Wednesdays, but I am happy to assist your student during lunch on other days as well. They can come see me at anytime to set up an appointment to do so.
