Tardy to School/Class Procedure
Our Tardy to School/Class Procedure was reviewed with our students. The goal of our procedure is to maximize instructional time for our students. When they are late to class, they often miss important information that is shared during class. Students may lose the following privileges if they accumulate four tardies to school and any individual class. A call to alert the parent will occur before privileges are taken away.
Extracurricular Privileges
Parking Privileges
Dance Privileges
PBIS Incentives
Hallway Privileges
September is Attendance Awareness month and we will be consistently recognizing our students who are on time and ready for class. Attendance is part of our PBIS program. Our PBIS Incentive is scheduled for September 23. We will have an obstacle course, bounce house and a jousting pit for students to enjoy. We want all of our students to be able to attend.

New Books
Take a look at what’s new in our library in this digital book display. To read about each book and put one on hold, click on the picture of the book cover. Students will need to log in to Destiny to put a book on hold.
We All Read Here
One of the JHHS Literacy Team initiatives is to create a culture of literacy at Handley. As a requirement, all students at Handley should always have a book to read in their book bag. Whenever there is free time throughout the school day, students should get their book out and read. All English classes should be visiting the library at least once each month, but students are encouraged to visit the library even more!
Books Delivered to the EGSIC
Finding it hard to get to the library because you spend most of your time at the EGSIC? You can use Destiny to place a hold for a book, and we’ll deliver it to you! Just place a hold, email Mrs. Shannon or Mrs. Putnam, and we’ll deliver it to the IC.
More Ways to Engage with Reading
Follow the library on Instagram @jhhslibrary for bitesize book reviews and library news!
Request personalized book recommendations by visiting our library website and completing the form under “What to Read Next”. To get there, visit the John Handley Homepage->Academics->Library->Reading Recommendations-> What to Read Next.

Handley Parking Permit
Students are permitted to park on school premises as a matter of privilege, not of right. If you are going to be driving to school for the 2022 -2023 school year and parking in the Handley parking lot, you must obtain a parking permit. Below you will find instructions on how to register your vehicle and obtain a parking permit.
Step one - Visit the Handley web page and locate the High School Student Parking Pass Application (Spanish here)
If you do not have access to the internet, you may come into school and use a library computer or pick up a copy of the parking application in the main office
Step two - Print off and complete the High School Student Parking Pass Application (Spanish here) with all the needed information.
Step three - Bring the completed parking application to school on July 28 or anytime after during business hours.
See the school treasurer to pay the $25 parking fee or parking permits may be purchased through School Cash online using credit cards. The necessary registration form will still need to be completed online prior to picking up the parking permit hang tag. Once the registration is completed and credit card payment is made, bring your receipt to the General Office to pick up the hang tag.
Take the receipt and complete parking application to the main office and one of the administrative assistants will assign you a parking space and give you a parking permit.
Step four - Hang the parking permit from your rear view mirror.
The parking permit must be visible.
The parking permit will have a number on it. That number is your assigned spot for the year.
You may only park in your assigned spot during school hours. If you fail to park in your spot, break any parking lot rules, and/or chronically late to school you may lose your privilege to park in the lot and anywhere on school property.
