Principal's Post
Dear Mill Creek Families,
As the school year is now in "full gear," one of the exciting aspects of the 2021-2022 school year is the opportunity to resume many school events that we were not able to hold last year. Our 6th Grade Ropes Course next Monday and Tuesday at Elbow Lane, the Kindergarten/1st Grade Family Picnic on September 23, and our 6th Grade Halloween Howl on October 22 are a few examples. Yes, we still need to follow some Health & Safety guidelines in order to hold these events safely, but they will be a welcome return to our Mill Creek Community practices.
We look forward to seeing our students at student events and families at family events again this year, which is certainly something to celebrate!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Shawn M. Ortman
Principal
From the Desk of Mr. Murtha
Just yesterday, our Jewish community members celebrated Yom Kippur, considered to be Judaism's holiest day of the year. The day involves atonement, repentance, reflection, prayer, and fasting. Many world religions observe holy days with similar tenets at some point during the year.
Regardless of whether it is incorporated into religious practice, being reflective, repentant, and seeking to correct wrongdoing, all are important and noble human practices. We have all made errors in our lives, and sometimes those errors can hurt others in a variety of ways, especially emotionally. When this happens, we seek to make things right, as this practice is an important component in maintaining a strong community. This happens every single day with our students here at Mill Creek. Students make mistakes, and they seek to correct them, often times needing our guidance in the process. And they look to how we correct our own mistakes as a model when they need to make amends.
As we head into what I hope will be a wonderful weekend for all, there is comfort in knowing that, whether rooted in our religious beliefs, our humanity, or both, our shared values, including looking to engage in reflection and repentance when we make mistakes, allows us to maintain and grow our Mill Creek Community.

School Lunch Information...
In April 2021, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service extended the program that will provide for free meals for all students, regardless of income, for the 2021-22 school year. This has been made possible by nationwide waivers that provide for free meals for all students through June 2022.
All menus are available to be viewed online up to 2 weeks in advance by visiting cbsd.nutrislice.com.
Students are entitled to one complete reimbursable breakfast per day and one complete reimbursable lunch per day. Any second entrée will be charged to the students’ lunch account. We encourage all families to put money on their students account through MySchoolBucks.com as there will be no cash transactions this year in an effort to serve the students as safely and swiftly as possible.
We are thrilled to continue to safely serve students delicious, fresh and nutritious meals at no charge, and we are equally excited to re-introduce our favorite programs to deliver fun, exciting and tasty experiences to students throughout the coming year.
