CA Update 12/13/15

Home of the Braves

It's an incredibly busy time of year at school and home for everyone. Last week our music students performed at the Prism and RPO concerts. Our winter sports seasons are in full swing. And our second marking period hits the half-way mark at the end of the week. We have eight school days before break, let's make it a strong finish!

Commodore Cup

The fourth annual Commodore Cup will be played this Friday at Finger Lakes Community College. CA basketball takes on Victor with the girls starting at 6 pm and the boys at 8 pm.

Tickets are $5 or $3 with a student ID.

Proceeds from the games go to local charities. According to the Daily Messenger, more than $9,000 has been raised the past three years.

CPR & AED Training

The area Boy Scouts troop is organizing a CPR & AED Training for CA Students. Students can learn CPR, AED and Basic First Aid on Saturday, December 19 from 12 to 3 PM. The cost for this activity is $20. Students should wear comfortable clothing appropriate for practicing these life saving skills. Registration information is available HERE.

Hochstein Youth Symphony Orchestra

Six Canandaigua Academy students are members of the 2015-16 Hochstein Youth Symphony Orchestra, the highest-level youth orchestra in the Hochstein School of Music & Dance’s five-tier youth orchestra program. We congratulate you and your students in achieving this high honor. The students are Madison Russell, Era Ghonbalaj, Walter Hennings, Reagan Reed, Aaron Vit, and Emma Whitehead

College Visit

Savannah College of Art & Design will be visiting the counseling center next week: Monday 12/14 at 12:15.


The Manning & Napier Scholarship Program offers one award of $8000 and two awards of $1000. The recipient of the $8000 scholarship award also receives an opportunity for a paid internship with Manning & Napier, between their sophomore and junior years of college. Applications are due on February 26, 2016 and are opens for students who have maintained high standards of academic achievement and are going to attend a four year school, or start at a two year community college and then transfer to a four-year school.
