ADL Charger News

April 2, 2021

Dear Families,

As of today, we plan to return to In-Person Hybrid at ADL on Monday, April 5th, and we are very much looking forward to welcoming our Chargers back to the school building next week. Our students have done a brilliant job this week showing up for their online classes and engaging with their remote learning.

We are anticipating a potential staff shortage next week. We will do everything possible to creatively and safely staff our building. In the event that we are unable to do so, we may need to call a fully remote learning day. We will communicate this decision to students and families as soon as we have sufficient information to do so. Please understand that this could be a late evening or early morning call.

Thank you for your understanding, support, and flexibility as we do our absolute best to plan for our students.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Wood

SBAC Testing Information- April 2021

We will begin administering the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBACs) in grades 6-8 on Monday, April 12th. These assessments will be administered during students' in-person days April 12th -30th. For more information about SBAC testing, please see this letter.

April is National Poetry Month

We are celebrating National Poetry Month at ADL with daily poetry activities, classroom presentations, and school-wide challenges, including an optional daily poetry activity for our students. Every student who participates will be entered into a drawing to win a prize at the end of the month. The first daily activity encouraged students and staff to write an original Haiku. Here are a few of the submissions for your reading pleasure!

Breathe the sweet spring air

of purple lilacs blooming

promising spring time

So gross and yellow

All stringy and disgusting

Slimy, I loathe them

there are so many

On Wednesday, March 24, students viewed a school-wide "virtual assembly" presentation. One of the highlights included this performance by our ADL Chorus. Enjoy!
