Bobcat Bulletin
SWHS Newsletter June 2020
Welome to the Bobcat Bulletin!
Message from the Principal
Dear SWHS Families,
This edition of the Bobcat Bulletin highlights awards, distinctions, and honors as earned by many SWHS students. Our students are being recognized differently than in years past, but what remains exactly the same is our pride in all of their accomplishments! See below for our Honor Roll Awards, Senior Awards, and Class of 2021 Awards and Distinctions. Also included in this newsletter is a special message for our underclassmen.
We also have a special section for our SWHS 2020 retirees Mrs. Mary O'Reilly and Mrs. Sue Mazzonna. We wish them well!
Finally, there is some "look ahead" information for underclassmen families which can be found toward the end of this newsletter.
Be safe and be well.
Frank Rizzuto
Principal

Congratulations To Our SWHS 2020 Retirees!
Sue Mazzonna
Mrs. Mazzonna has been teaching for 44 years, 43 of which at SWHS. She has most enjoyed when she is in the classroom and actually teaching and that every year each class and individual student is different. She also enjoys having worked with "the best people, especially my department." During her time at SWHS, she has been a dedicated staff member as evident by her participation on numerous committees and serving in a variety of roles including as a proud Senior Class Advisor for many years. She is looking forward to sleeping past 5:30 am, having whatever length lunch she would like, and spending more time with her grandchildren (and their parents).
Mary O'Reilly
Mrs. O'Reilly has taught every educational level from kindergarten through college over the last 30 years including two years in Belize. For her last five years, she has served as a World Language teacher at SWHS. Mrs. O'Reilly has enjoyed helping students grow in their knowledge and appreciation of the Spanish language and culture, in hopes of their increased respect and awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity. Mrs. O'Reilly has particularly enjoyed the professional collaboration with her World Language Department peers and calls the SWHS students the most amazing she has ever been able to serve. "SWHS has been a perfect culmination for my long career. I have loved it!" Mrs. O'Reilly is looking forward to potential part-time work in retirement closer to her home. She and her husband have six children and are expecting their fifth grandchild in October.
Updating Information in Parent Portal
We ask parents of underclassmen to please complete the annual student information update through PowerSchool that will be available early this summer. It is essential that we have accurate contact information on file for you and your family, especially during times like these. Parents can sign into their PowerSchool parent portal account, click on "forms" in the left-hand column, and complete forms A and B. If you have questions or need assistance, please reach out to chanchuk@swindsor.k12.ct.us or kschworm@swindsor.k12.ct.us.
