Hello Lakeview Families!
Red Ribbon Week was a success! Some of the student council students helped decorate the school with red ribbons and banners early Monday morning. They did an excellent job! Thank you to those students!! All the students really enjoyed the dress up days as a reminder to stay drug free. Remember, children who decide not to use alcohol or other drugs often make this decision because they have strong convictions against the use of these substances. These convictions are based on values that begin with family communication!
The Homework Helpline, 727-547-7223, offers free homework help for students in grades 1 through 12. The Helpline is staffed by Pinellas County Schools teachers who are certified in math, science, language arts and social studies. Helpline teachers have access to textbooks commonly used in the district and can assist students with homework in most subjects. Homework help is available from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, on all school days except when there is no school the following day.
The character trait for November is Citizenship, which is being law abiding and involved in service to school, community and country. Encourage your children to be good citizens by doing their share to make their school, community and the world a better place. Talk to your children about not littering and recycling. Children can participate in community service by doing beach clean-ups or searching online for volunteer opportunities near you. Our kids learn as much by example as by what they are told. Be a good example by following the rules of the family, community and state and doing what you can to help your community.
Clothes to Kids is an organization that provides gently used or new clothes and shoes to children who may benefit from assistance. Any family can take their official free/reduced lunch letter or a referral from myself to clothes to kids to shop. Please call them ahead of time to schedule an appointment. Their number for south county is 327-7100.
If you need anything or have questions, please don’t hesitate to email me at altmank@pcsb.org.
That is the best way to contact me. Thanks! Mrs. Kari Altman-Wood, School Counselor
Music
Dear Lakeview families,
This year’s Winter Music Concert and Art Show will take place on Tuesday, December 17th, 6:00pm at Lakewood High School. All students participating are asked to arrive by 5:45pm and the doors to the auditorium will open at 5:30pm. Please enjoy looking at your child’s art before and after the concert. When the concert is over please take your child’s art home with you.
All Kindergarten, first grade, and second grade students will be participating in the Winter Music Concert, as well as fourth and fifth grade Chorus. The students will learn this music during their weekly music class.
All students participating in the concert are asked to wear a red or green outfit that is their holiday best.
GIRLS: red or green top with black bottoms (skirt or pants) or red or green dress.
BOYS: red or green top with black pants.
Students may wear sneakers, boots, flats, or sandals with a back. For safety reasons there are to be no flip flops or high heels.
Students are not to wear hats at the concert.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.
Thank you,
Sarah Thompson, Music Teacher

Volunteers please log your in the volunteer system https://focus.pcsb.org/volunteer
I often get the question why should I log volunteer hours?
Here are just a few reasons why it is important to log volunteer hours
- The State looks at volunteer impact in our district and compares it to other school districts
- The 5 Star Award and the Golden School Award (State Awards) are based on the volunteer hours/impact
- The School Board and Superintendent review the volunteer hours and how they impact schools
- Hours show how the community and families are impacting student achievement
- Hours how engaged/involved the communities and families are in our schools
- Hours confirm the volunteers are making a BIG difference in student success
- If you don’t log your hours and you get hurt volunteers are not covered under the school district insurance
- Volunteer Travel is a Tax Deduction!!
If you have any questions please give me a call (727) 893-2139 ext. 2000 or email me at pacet@pcsb.org
