Our first PTA meeting is Monday September 17th @ 6:30pm.

Broomall's Homeroom Class

Letters for the Time capsule are due 9/21. Mrs. Broomall's homeroom class set a goal for 100% attendance 14 out of 17 days in September. So far they have 3 days with perfect attendance. Mrs. Broomall is also looking for donations of Lysol, Clorox, or store brand wipes for the classroom.

Homework will officially start the week of September 24th. In the meantime, please encourage your child to read 15 minutes a night.

Language Arts: Reading and Writing

This week in Reading students will explore genres of literature and begin to identify their favorite types of literature. Please see the image below for the different types of genres.

This week in Writing students will select from their list of seed ideas to write small moment narratives. Once they have selected from their list, they will begin to write their small moment stores.

This week, students will continue to add and subtract with regrouping using place value strategies. Students have not been exposed to the standard algorithm yet but will be in the second quarter. We will also begin to talk about benchmark numbers and midpoints in order to round to the nearest ten and hundred.

Social Studies/Science

This week we will continue to compare school customs around the world. Students will also learn about different cultural contributions from different cultural groups in the United States.

Leader in Me

Habit #1, Be Proactive, has been introduced to the students. Students will develop goals for being proactive and monitor their goals.

How can you support this Habit of Happy and Healthy Kids at home? Encourage responsibility and accountability.

Please let us know if you have any questions.
