From The Desk Of Mrs. Doyle
We are all abuzz with excitement for the holidays and the approaching winter break; we hope you are too! As we gear up for the final school week of 2019, here are a few important things to know.
Bren Bataclan
We were so excited this week to have Bren Bataclan as our artist-in-residence! After riveting presentations with our students and staff on Monday, Bren collected our drawings and used some of them to make a 6-panel mural with the theme of kindness. Bren painted all week in the main corridor by the office and engaged with anyone passing by -- several students and staff talked to him daily. He brought such positivity and joy to our school and we are so grateful to the PTO for sponsoring his time with us. Please check out the pictures and video below. If you are friends with Peter Noyes School on Facebook, there are more pictures posted there as well.
Attendance Letters
While this isn't exactly the mail you'd want to receive over the holidays, some of you will be receiving a warning letter regarding your child's attendance. Principals are required to be vigilant about student absences and to work with families to ensure students are in school every single day (unless sick, of course). As always, if you have any questions, please reach out to me.
Staff Cookie Swap
On behalf of all staff, please know that one of our favorite days of the year is the Staff Cookie Swap. This would not be possible without your many generous donations of baked goods. Thank you to everyone who contributed this year and any year. We are so grateful.
Best,
Annette Doyle
1 - 2 - 3 - 4 WE DECLARE A COIN WAR!
SERF Grant Winner
This year, SERF created an incredible opportunity for students to apply for grants to help make a difference at Noyes. The winning grants would receive up to $1000.
SERF was thrilled with the range of student grants they received from Noyes and from across the district. They were impressed by the range of ideas that students were thinking about - from ones that impact the local and global environment, to ones that build an appreciation of one another, to ones that support kids' health and academic growth. Generating ideas is one thing, but taking steps to talk with a teacher, plan, fill out a form and speak with a principal heightened the risk-taking level.
For SERF and the community review panel, choosing ONE from each school was a challenging task. The panel consisted of representatives from the community - a librarian from Goodnow, an officer from the Sudbury Police and Fire departments, a high schooler, several local business owners, and families ranging from having some of the littlest children to empty nesters in town.
Congratulations to Tim Abramkin, who were chosen as winners for his idea to build a "Get To Know Your School" scavenger hunt for all grade levels. This activity will be a great addition to Noyes and will bring great pleasure to many students.

The Proud Winner!
Thank you to Bren Bataclan and the Peter Noyes PTO for our gorgeous mural!
Each panel represents a grade level and what they think of when they hear the word kindness!
