WhooosReading

WhooosReading is our Read-A-Thon.

The children love logging their minutes and changing their owl avatars. They are certainly off to a great start!

Remember the maximum minutes that can be logged for a specific day are 120.

The student who logs the most minutes and the student who raises the most money will both receive $50 worth of items through Scholastic.

*If there are several students who qualify, we will have a drawing to pick the winner.

We are still working out the incentives for the classes. Homework passes, lunch with the teacher, and maybe a virtual visit from an alpaca are all possibilities. If you or your child have any suggestions, feel free to let me know.

Our Read-A-Thon is running through February 28th.

Any questions, please contact Briana George @ bgsptopresident@gmail.com

Bradley Gardens Masks are Here!

The student council is running a fundraiser. They come in two sizes, adult and teen. $10 each. Check out AtoZ Connect to place your order. You can also contact Kim Yacykewych @ kimyacykewych@gmail.com to place an order or ask questions.

The teen size is great for our school-aged children and those with thinner faces.

PTO Positions - Co-Treasurer

This week we are highlighting our Co-Treasurer position. We currently used QuickBooks to record our financials.

This is a great way to get involved if you want to see how everything works while still making a valuable contribution. The back-office work is just as important. This is work you can do from home at your leisure throughout the month.

This position has several responsibilites that are divided between 2 people. They include:

  1. Has charge of all funds; presents financial report(s) at all meetings.

  2. Receive deposit forms, checks and cash, then make deposits.

  3. Receives check requests and supporting documentation to process necessary checks.

  4. Coordinate with event chairs for start-up cash to run events.

  5. Prepare budget with the President/Co-Presidents.

  6. Present proposed budget for approval at first general meeting of the year.

  7. Maintains an awareness of the PTO calendar to ensure appropriate funding and cash flow to support events.

  8. Secure audit of account and submission of books to accountant (if applicable) for preparation of tax return by August.

  9. Shall keep secure all permits, licenses and official documents.

  10. Due to the nature of the role, it is recommended that the treasurer responsible for maintaining the books has prior accounting or bookkeeping experience with the PTO’s bookkeeping software.

We Need A Nominating Committee

We need three PTO members, if you've paid your dues - you're a member, to be part of our nominating committee. The nominating committee collects the names of people who want to run for PTO positions next year. They also receive recommendations from people and then prepare a slate for the elections. Elections are held in May.

If you have a talent for seeing the potential in people and matching them to a need, then WE NEED YOU!

Are you in the field of marketing or advertising? Maybe you can help with advertising the positions?

Many hands, make light work. If you can spare a few hours, we could use your help.

WE NEED YOU!

We are in need of volunteers to help run the PTO next year. Several board members have students in the 4th grade and will be leaving Bradley Gardens.

Specifically, we will need 2 PTO Presidents, 1 PTO Vice President, 2 PTO Treasurers, 1 Recording Secretary, and 1 Webmaster.

If you are interested in any of the positions, please email Briana George @ bgsptopresident@gmail.com.

The more help we have the easier it is to run the PTO events and manage the administration of the PTO. Hopefully next year we are back to "normal", but either way, the events we have come to love and the support that we have given the school in terms of assemblies, equipment and programs need to continue. Please consider joining our team.

Many people have asked where to find a description of the roles. You can find our complete by-laws on the PTO website under forms and documents. I am also including the section that specifically address the roles below.

We are happy to answer any and all questions.

Celebrating its 63rd year, the Bradley Gardens Little Loop baseball program emphasizes teamwork and sportsmanship, and provides quality baseball instruction to every child who participates in the league regardless of skill level.

The Little Loop season runs from April to June, and is open to all boys and girls between the ages of 4 ½ and 12, regardless of where they live and regardless of their experience level. Players are placed into one of four divisions based on their age as of May 1, 2021.
