Stamp Out Starvation
On Thursday, April 20, Stuco hosted a community service project with "Stamp Out Starvation" out of Cherokee, Oklahoma.
Stamp Out Starvation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide nutritious meals to people all around the world, and even right here in Oklahoma.
We are able to accomplish this by organizing community and youth packaging events of Stamp Out starvation's highly nutritious meals
Each Stamp Out Starvations package contains six servings and each bag is prepared in less then 20 minutes by adding the food package to boiling water.
Each Stamp Out Starvation food package is based off a rice and soy casserole that is fortified with 21 essential vitamins and minerals, six dehydrated vegetables and chicken flavoring. This soy( 52% protein) and nutrient rich formula reverses the starvation process.

Faculty Spotlight
His children are Monica Gossen, 39 years old; she is a 3rd grade teacher in Wichita, KS, Alyssa Boyd, 36 year old, Tulsa, OK, and Drew Gossen, 32 years old, , teacher and football coach, at Piedmont High School. He has 6 grandchildren: Daylan (15), Kyler (11), Kayleigh (8), Wadley, Mason (5), Colton (3), and Reed (1).
Having a double-major in mathematics and social studies, Mr. Gossen currently teaches Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Problems of Democracy, and 7th grade Careers (including Personal Financial Literacy). He also teaches Drivers Ed in the summer. In past years, he has also taought World History, Civics, Calculus, Trig, History of Religion, Computer Programming in BASIC, Computer Programming in Pascal, Computer Applications I and II, and Computer Literacy/Keyboarding. He is in his 34th year of teaching at KHS and his 43rd overall.
He is the National Honor Society advisor, senior class sponsor of this year, lead negotiator for the KHS Classroom Teachers' Association, and Huddle Leader for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He also serves as "Voice of the Broncs" for the KHS football games. He coaches the academic teams at KHS, including four for the Oklahoma Junior Academic Association and a varsity team for the OSSAA.
From Grades 1-8 he attended Vera Elementary in Vera, OK. His freshman, sophomore, and junior years were at Ramona High School, Ramona, OK. Ramona and Ochelata High Schools consolidated for his senior year, and he graduated in 1970 from Ramona-Ochelata High School. He grew up on a dairy farm between Vera and Ramona and spent the first 17 3\4 years of his life on that dairy farm. (yes, he did milk cows, but only with electric milkers!)
Tabor College, Hillsboro, KS, is a small liberal arts college in central Kansas that is affiliated with the Mennonite Brethren Church. His wife and he attended there from 1970-74 where they both graduated one year after getting married in 1973. HE took classes at Emporia State University and Wichita State University before moving to Enid in 1983, where he finished his masters of ed degree in 1986 at Phillips University. In 2007, he received National Board Certification with the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards
He began his teaching career at Fairfield High School, Langdon, KS, teaching mathematics. Its there that he began coaching Quizbowl and taking students to Pittsburg Math Relays. After nine years there, he moved his family to Kremlin, OK, his wife's hometown, to teach mathematics and computer science. In addition to high school, he has taught at Sterling College in Sterling, KS, Hutchinson Community College, Phillips University, O.T. Autry Vocational Technical School, NWOSU,
His sophomore year in high school, he had a great math teacher, Mr. Boyd. He left after that year, and the next year I had the absolutely worst math teacher in the world. He ended up teaching his fellow juniors more math than the actual teachers. From then on, he made it a point to be a high school math teacher where I could help students learn and appreciate mathematics.
He enjoys watching sports live and on television. He also likes going to live theater, especially the Gaslight Theater in Enid. Chess is my favorite game, but I am usually up to play any board game. I own a twelve string acoustic guitar and have written over a dozen songs, including my wedding song and various special events in my life. I play trivia with friends every Thursday night at trivia contests whenever possible. Hopefully this will keep my brain active and engaged late into life.
Mexican food of about any kind is probably my favorite, but pizza is a close second. I also enjoy grilling food on my gas grill. New York Strip steak would be my favorite special meal (too expensive to eat very often). I enjoy watching action shows but shows that involve using brain power are my favorite.(like Scorpion and Numbers). I like watching reruns of 50's and 60's television shows, especially the Lone Ranger. News programs are important because I like to keep up with current events. My favorite song is " The William Tell Overture" by Rossini and any song by Three Dog Night. I listen to a lot of sports talk on the radio, Christian music, and old-time rock and roll.
Being a Bronc has been in my life for the past 34 years. School spirit come naturally to me; my wife was a cheerleader in high school and college and my older daughter was also a long-time cheerleader, so it is natural for me to show school spirit. I'm proud that I have participated in almost every dress up day of football and basketball homecoming weeks throughout my career. I love being creative in dressing up also.
My advice to students is simple. Its the credo I try to live by; six simple words: "Love God, Love People, Do Stuff". I can't take credit for these words, but I do try to live by them. Being a Christian ( and proudly a member of the Mennonite Brethren Church in Enid), I also have a favorite passage from the bible that is my life passage. It is Philippians 4: 4-8 from the Living Bible. " Always be full of joy in the lord; I say it again, Rejoice! Let everyone see that you are unselfish in all you do. Remember that the lord is coming soon. Don't worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell god you needs and don't forget to thank Him for His answers. If you do this, you will know Gods peace, Which is far more wonderful then the human mind can ever understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus". And, oh yeah, "do your homework!"
