Teen Tobacco Use

Help us stop under age tobacco use!

Under Age Users

In the United States, everyday more than 3,200 kids under the age 18 smoke their first cigarette. And more than 700 kids under the age 18 become daily smokers. Tobacco use is the leading preventable disease, disability, and death in the United States. It is responsible for more than 480,000 deaths each year.

Once you start, its hard to stop.

People start smoking for many reasons. Some think its cool. Others start because their family members or family smoke. 9 out of 10 smokers start before their 18 years old. Most adults who started smoking in their teens never expected to become so addicted. That is why most people say it is just so much easier to just not start smoking at all.

True stories from people who used tobacco.

Second Hand Smoke

Second Hand Smoke causes numerous health problems in infants and children, including more frequent and severe asthma attacks, respiratory infections, ear infections, and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Smoking during pregnancy results in more than 1,000 infant deaths annually.

The Real Cost Campaign

The objective of the campaign is to educate the at-risk youth about the harmful effects of tobacco use with the goal of reducing initiating rates among youth who are open to smoking and reducing the number of youth already experimenting with cigarettes that progress to regular use.
