A Word From The Captain
Welcome back to Rampello! For those of you new to our school, welcome to the crew! We work very hard to ensure that each and every child feels at home and comfortable while they are here at Rampello.
Celebrations: Due to the hard work and dedication of the faculty, families, and students, we have retained our “A” school grade for the 12th year in a row!
To get our school year off to the best start, please ensure that students arrive on time for school every day to avoid missing valuable instructional time. Students may come on to campus at 7:30am and should be in their classrooms, learning by 8:00am. Students dropped off prior to 7:30am are not supervised. HOST supervision is available from 6:15-7:30am daily. Students should not be left later than 2:20pm on Mondays and 3:20pm Tuesdays-Fridays. If this occurs, a parent will need to sign the child out through the main office. We also do not allow sign-outs during the last 30 minutes of the instructional day for safety purposes. Thank you for being patient with rainy day dismissals. If there is lightning in the area, even if the rain doesn't seem bad, we need to insure the safety of our staff and students and keep everyone inside.
Please drive safely and be extra aware of pedestrians while around our campus. There are many people crossing the streets and we have noticed some speedy drivers during drop-off and dismissal. The last thing we would want is for someone to get hurt.
The best ways to support your child are to arrive on time daily, read with them every night, check their Edsby, planner, and red folder (elementary) and be an active participant in their educational career.
We have had a fantastic start to our 2019-2020 school year so far. I want to thank all of the students, parents, faculty, and staff for making the transition into the school year so successful.
Educationally Yours,
Principal Liz Uppercue

SLAM is a reading program for all Hillsborough County K-12 students it promotes reading a collection of books nominated for our state awards.
Students are encouraged to read these nominations and respond to them through artistic expression. If you decide to participate, the school judging will be Feb 6.
Students are invited to read the Sunshine State Young Readers Award books and respond in any of the following ways (multiple entries are accepted):
Video Creative Expression
Students may work together or individually to create a video about one of the book selections. Videos must be one minute or less in length, and must contain pictures, sound, title, author and citations. These elements must have appropriate copyright permissions or be original work. You must be able to email the file.
Students in grades 3-5 may work individually or in a group of two or three.
2D Art Expression
Individual students create a drawing, painting, collage or digital media as an expression of one of the books. Artwork must be mounted on a sturdy material and must not exceed 11”x14”, including mat. Artwork must lay flat on the poster (no 3D art accepted).
A reader’s statement which explains the inspiration and connection between the book and the student work must be submitted with each project. This statement must be at least one sentence but may not exceed 300 words. This must be the work of students only, and adults are not allowed to alter the student creation in any way.
Entries must be submitted to the Media Specialist by January 24. Video Creative Expression can be emailed. All projects will be judged in the Media Center, and Grades 3-5 and Grades 6-8 will have one project chosen from the Video Creative Expression and one project from 2D art. The projects chosen will go to the SLAM showcase on March 24th.
See Mrs. Young in the media center with questions or reach out to her at leslie.young@sdhc.k12.fl.us .
