Students are expected to be in class the entire test time. No passes for early dismissal will be issued. Teachers are not allowed to dismiss students early or excuse students from their final exam meeting time.

● Study halls will be available during finals except for 9th period. Study halls will be held in the cafeteria and will be silent study halls. Library will only be available through passes from the library staff.

● During lunch, basic food service will be provided.

● All other areas of the building will be closed during lunch.

● Buses will depart from WNHS at the regular time (except for some Special Education buses). Students waiting for their bus ride home will have to wait in the cafeteria/commons area.

● Students tardy to exams will be sent to study hall for the period and must arrange for a make-up exam time with their teacher during the flex period. Students who are absent from exams due to an excused absence can make up exams during the flex periods each day. Students must make arrangements with the teacher to use the flex periods.

Crammin' with Cocoa

Thunder Strong is once again sponsoring the pre-finals study session on Tuesday, Dec. 18th 3:30-5:00 PM in the cafeteria. Any student can come to the cramming session to help them prepare for finals. Students were asked to invite any teachers that they would specifically like to have with them in the cramming session. We hope that many teachers will be present, but a special invitation from a student often helps. If your student needs a little extra help knowing how to study, this is the place for them to be!

Student Schedules for 2nd Semester

On Monday and Tuesday of next week, students will be given their schedule for the 2nd semester. Students were given an early copy in November, however, many changes have been requested since that time. Additionally, balancing of section sizes and some teacher changes have necessitated moving some classes around in the day. Students should be sure to get their schedule next week and review it for accuracy. If any changes must be made due to errors, or incorrect courses, those corrections must be made before students leave for Winter Break. Parent signatures are required for all changes. Counselors will be available each afternoon after the finals exams are finished for each day. Please encourage your student to show you the schedule. Tell them to take a picture of the schedule with their phone (while they may lose their paper copy, they seldom lose their phones!) Want to improve your SAT Score? Classes are forming NOW!!

SAT Prep classes are currently loading for the 3rd quarter. These classes are offered during 0 period and 3rd period. Classes will begin immediately after the break on January 7. Any Junior student is eligible to enter these classes. Students with no schedule gaps or study halls will be able to flex their PE enrollment to have space to enter these prep classes. Teachers for the classes this year will be: Mrs. Murray - Math, during 0 period, Mrs. Janke - English during 3rd period, and Mrs. Pedersen - Math during 3rd period. We are offering Math two times during the day because this is the area where we have more students exhibit a need for improvement. Counselors will work with students to help rearrange schedules to be able to access the courses. 0 period enrollment requires that the student (or their parents) be able to transport themselves early to school. Our teachers have an excellent record of being able to help students increase their scores. We highly recommend these classes. Students will remain in the class each day until the end of the 3rd quarter. There is no cost for enrolling in the course. We understand that these classes are sometimes difficult for student to get to, but our counseling staff will look at every possible option to get the students into the class. Our chosen periods are based on the availability of our teaching staff. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your student's counselor.

Ground Hog Dinner for Ed Foundation

This year's Groundhog Day Dinner/Auction will be held at 6 p.m. on Feb. 9 at Woodstock Harley-Davidson. Retired Olson and Creekside teacher Rick Morozink is this year's honoree for the Sue Palmore Award of Excellence. One of the big changes this year is that much of business, including the actual bidding for auction items on the night of the event, will be done online. Ticket sales are also being handled online and there is an option to purchase tables. Paper tickets will not be available at the District Office nor anyone else.
