Highlights from Last Week...
Springdale Rotary Club Supported our 3rd Grade Readers with Book Donations Springdale Rotary Club representatives gave three books to every third-grade student at Walker Elementary today. These books will help build personal home libraries and increase home reading! The excitement on each child’s face shows just how much these books will be enjoyed. Thank you, Rotary Club of Springdale for this amazing gift. #springdalereads | GT Field Trip to HBHS HBHS hosted Walker and other elementary and middle schools for a STEAM Day. Students were able to attend various classes and encountered various STEAM experiences offered at Har-Ber, such as Hydroponics (Plant Sciences), Genetics (AP Biology), dissections (Anatomy and Physiology), Aviation, Coding (Computer Science), Robotics, CNC, Van de Graaf generator (Physics) and Clay characteristics (AP ART) | Our EAST Little Food Pantry Project joined with the K-Kids Birthday in a Bag Project A group of EAST students have been working on a project to provide food to families in need with a little food pantry being placed on the Walker campus. KKids donated birthday items in order to create birthday bags to add to our food pantry. These birthday bags are now available in our Little Food Pantry for anyone who has a need. Bags include cake mix, frosting, decorations, and various items to assist in giving your child a memorable birthday experience. Our Little Food Pantry is located on the north side of our school in the corner of the parking lot. |

The Golden Apple Teacher Award is back!
Post Consumer Brands is excited to return as the 2018/2019 Golden Apple segment sponsor. This segment highlights the efforts of our NWA teachers/ coaches/ classroom instructors that go above and beyond the normal duties of teaching within a classroom and how they “Make Better Happen” for their students. If you know someone like this, we would love to hear about them.
Once a month, one teacher from NWA school districts (traditional and non-traditional settings) will be chosen for an amazing prize package. The winner will have a surprise classroom visit from our very own Chris Frye, a Post Consumer Brand rep, and a camera crew. On the last Wednesday of the month the story will air. (Visits will be organized and confirmed through winning schools principal’s office).
Below you will find the link to our Golden Apple online submission page. Please share this with all of your teachers in your district. This contest will run through the entire school year and our first teacher will be chosen in September. Thank you for your assistance with this wonderful opportunity.
