Book Summary:

The giver is about a teenager that lives in a world of conformity in black and white. He spends time with the giver that is a the sole of the community's memories, that Jonas discovers the bad stuff about the community's memories .Jonas realizes that he must escape from the world to protect himself, a challenge that no one has ever done.

Main Character : Jonas

Jonas is a young boy who is nervous about the Ceremony of Twelve, when he will receive the Assignment, or job, that he will spend the rest of his life doing. Jonas often perceives flashes of changes when he sees stuff, and when he looks at an object; he does not realize that he is perceiving color, which disappeared once the community went over to Sameness. At the ceremony, Jonas is chosen to become the new Receiver, a Assignment that consists of keeping all of the old memories of the community from before the time of the Sameness.
