Coffee with the Principal
Friday, October 12th
Teacher's Lounge, 8:00a.m. to 8:25a.m.
Please join me this Friday for coffee in the teacher's lounge. It’s an opportunity for me to share our school’s latest news, and/or address questions or concerns you might have. The meeting begins at 8:00. I look forward to seeing you there!
Annual International Day Celebration
Friday, October 12th is the International Day Celebration at Escondido. In the morning we will kick off our celebration with the annual 'Parade of Flags' starting at 8:30a.m. in the courtyard. Families are welcome to come and watch!
To help us celebrate our tradition of "Friends Around the World", you may wish to have your kids come to school dressed in clothing that represents their National culture or heritage. Each child will be able to walk behind their Country flag of choice. If your child wears something special to participate in the morning event, please have them bring an extra set of clothing for the remainder of the day.
In the evening, we hold our popular 'International Fair' from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. with Country booths, games, prizes, food trucks, and entertainment. It’s fun for the whole family! We will be issuing passports for you to travel to each country booth to acquire all of the stamps, then collect a prize! We hope to see you there.
Parking Lot Safety
Please adhere to the following rules during drop off and pick up times:
Use the right lane to drop off children and adults
Pass the Panda and...pull up as far as possible to allow others to drop off
Drivers stay in the vehicle and let kids get out of car on their own (let one of us in a vest know if you need help)
Drive slowly through the parking lot and avoid changing lanes unless the way is clear
Be VERY careful of pedestrians and bicycles – EVERYONE please make eye contact with pedestrians and drivers
No Student Drop Off at the Back Lot We are seeing a lot of dangerous situations in the back parking lot! Please do not use the back parking until after 4pm and tell your children to not ride behind parked cars!
Kids in Costume Parade
Our annual Halloween Parade will take place on the Escondido blacktop at 8:30- 9:15a.m. on Wednesday, October 31, 2018
Keep it Fun - Not Scary!
No Scary Costumes at School on Halloween
Students are not allowed to wear scary, gory or bloody costumes (Scream, zombie, monster, etc.) and neither are fake weapons allowed at school (leave the sword and lightsaber at home, etc.) For those who are new to us, this school has a long-standing tradition of not allowing scary costumes to avoid traumatizing the younger students.
Children come to school with costumes on already. Children should change out of their costumes at the end of parade with a change of clothes as necessary.
Congratulations and Farewell
Cristina Rodriguez, New Secretary @ Greene Middle School!
Ms. Rodriguez will be joining Greene Middle school as their new school secretary. While we will miss the day-to-day interaction with her - she been an indispensable part of our team - we know she will tackle this new venture with the same passion and dedication she has displayed as part of our team at Escondido. Working with Cristina has been an honor and privilege, and we know she will continue to succeed in this new phase of her professional career. Please make sure you stop by the office to congratulate her!
