Middle East and Islam Today

Israel & Palestine
Both lands have been fighting since the 19th century over their land. The Jewish people fight for the land because it holds great religious value, while Arabs fight for their land because it is their home and they have been there for centuries. The battles are fueled by Israel putting troops in the west bank and the Arab terrorist group, PLO.
Kenya
Since the 1970's, Kenya has been a place of many terrorist attacks. In 2011, The Kenyan and Somalian militaries teamed to attack the Al-Shabaab terrorist group. After that, in the year 2012 alone, Kenya was the victim of at least 17 explosive attacks, targeting christians. In 2013, Al-shabaab gunmen killed at least 80 people in a shooting at the Westgate Shopping Mall. In 2015, Al-shabaab attacked the Garissa University College killing about 150 people and holding 500 Christian students hostage and freeing muslim students.
Women and Islam
Women in Islam are not allowed to hold religious titles. In recent years women have been fighting for equal rights as men, such as schools for women. Although, men disagree with them because they view women as a key of tradition because of their roles of taking care of the family. The women are still fighting for their liberation.
