Hello Parents, Staff, and Students,
On Wednesday, Fernwood Teacher, Gina Wenzel hosted a Self eSTEAM Night for Girls at Fernwood and Alder Middle schools. There were student activities and parent sessions all revolving around Science, technology, engineering, arts and math. The turnout was great and having our middle school female students participate was even greater! Check out the pictures.
On Thursday, May 18th, our 7th grade students along with our students from Mrs. Clisham’s, Mrs. Molina’s, Mrs. Hendrix, Ms. McShane, Ms. Smith and Mrs. Ash’s classrooms went to Playland’s Castaway Cove. They enjoyed beautiful weather and a day of fun rides with friends. Thank you to our Parents’ Club for supporting the trip. A huge thank you to teachers and paraprofessionals for chaperoning. It was a lot of fun!

Alder softball has 5 Wins and 1 Tie mid-season. Team is led by dominant pitching from Skye Loges and team captain Gabi Otto, with big hits from fellow 8th graders: Emma Smith, Sadie Van Dine, and team captain Kaylee Beck, Emma Smith, and Sadie Van Dine. The 7th graders have been a supplement to the success led by powerful hits and strong defense from Gali Castro and Maddy Blair-Warker.
Ms. Molina's class has been learning about the duck life cycle and how to care for eggs in an incubator! Each day, students checked the humidity and temperature, and they cooled the eggs down to simulate how a mother duck would take care of her babies. They did such a great job, their duckies hatched a day early while they were away on the field trip on Thursday!
Mrs. DelGaizo's class learned about the water cycle this week!
