An interview with Mrs. Alatorre
What is cosmetology?
"Cosmetology is a profession that teaches everything about the beauty industry; it's basically about hair, anatomy, skin, nails, pedicures, and makeup. Everything that you use to makes yourself feel beautiful."How does someone get into cosmetology?
"Cosmetology has a process you go through, as one thing I look into I try to promote by 8th to 9th graders that way they start putting their credits in place, so when they become juniors as sophomores they will do an application. These applications are turned in to me, then I get a list of students which normally runs from 75 to 100 students. The state only lets me take 25 per class, but its not just a regular core class you do have to go through an interview where your attendance, credits and disciplinary actions are checked; you are then selected for this classed based on the effort you put into becoming apart of this program."

What is SkillsUSA?
Makeup on Society
Teens today are known to have a low self-esteem because of television ads or magazine photos. Girls today are paying attention to photos that are edited to look unreal, thus creating the desire to have unrealistic expectations of what society says they should strive to look like. Like having a very tiny waist, a thigh gap, a flat stomach, long legs, small nose, big eyes, plump lips, defined jaw-line, perfectly shaped eyebrows, high cheekbones, and finally big breasts and bottom. To be honest every woman and man are beautiful just the way they are and they don't have to change to meet with someone's opinion of beauty.
Not all people agree with makeup, and its not only men but some women too. Some people believe that makeup tricks the other partner into believing that they look as attractive when they have makeup off. They also believe that women and men who wear makeup are animal killers. Unfortunately, makeup products do use animal testing to produce the few cosmetics women and men use on a daily basis. Cosmetics like shampoo and lipstick. Although the men and women who oppose the use of makeup understand that the natural face is better than the unreal one, but for the people who wear makeup every single day believes that enhancing their features make them feel more bold. Whatever decision you make, i'm sure you'll look beautiful/handsome!
