Planning a Party Project
Bounce houses, and Food
Bounce House Questions
1. Describe how you created each equation.
I took 2 coordinates from the table and used the equation Y2-Y1/X2-X1 to get the rate of change. Then i plugged in my rate of change along with all of my numbers and made my equation of Y= 54x+84 and Y= 75x.
2. Will there ever be a number of students where both companies will cost the same? Describe the steps you would use and then solve for the number of students for which both companies will cost the same amount.
Yes, when I have 4 hours at Jumpin' Jacks and Hoppin' Around it will cost $300.
3. If you only have a budget of $750 for the bounce house, how many hours, maximum, would you be able to have at the 7th Grade Blowout for each company? Can you have a decimal or fraction as part of your answer? Why or why not? Yes you can have a decimal or fraction because you can split hours into smaller pieces or sections. For Jumpin' Jacks I could spend 12 hours and 20 minutes, and for Hoppin' Around i could have exactly 10 hours there.
Food Questions
1. Describe how you created each equation.
I took 2 coordinates from the table and used the equation Y2-Y1/X2-X1 to get the rate of change. Then i plugged in my rate of chanage along with all of my numbers and made my equation of Y= 10x+20 and Y= 9.25x+ 61.25.
2. Will there ever be a number of students where both companies will cost the same? Describe the steps you would use and then solve for the number of students for which both companies will cost the same amount.
No, because Pizza Palace has a starting cost of $61.25 and Burger Bonanza has a starting price of $20, yet burger bonanza has a rate of change of $10 while Pizza Palace has a rate of change of $9.25 which means that Pizza Palace is too far ahead to be caught up to.
3. If you only have a budget of $1000 for food, how many people, maximum, would you be able to have at the 7th Grade Blowout for each company? Can you have a decimal or fraction as part of your answer? Why or why not?
No because you cannot have only a part of a person, or half of a person. For Burger Bonanza i could have exactly 98 students attend. For Pizza Palace i cold have 101 students attend.
Proposed Plans
Food: I think that if we have 55 students or less then we can use burger bonanza, but if its more than 55 students then we should use pizza palace.
