A Note from our Principal

Dear Bridgeport Families,

I hope you have enjoyed the sunshine this week! As you have probably heard, we have some exciting events coming up in the near future. The first is on Wednesday, March 11 from 6:30-8:00. We will have a community meeting focused on educating and caring for students who have experienced trauma. This will be an informational night with a panel discussion for both families and educators. There will be interpreters, childcare, and a light meal provided.

Another event that you will want to have on your calendars is Color our World, which is our Bridgeport arts and literacy event on March 19 from 5:30-8:00. Kindergarten and first grade classes will also “Dance Around the World” with their families in the gym that night! Join us for piñata making, painting, crafting, music, calligraphy, drama, and so much more!

Lastly, earlier this week you all received communication about the ICE activity and the arrests in the Tigard-Tualatin community. I want to reiterate that our Bridgeport community is a safe place for all of our students and we are committed to serving all of our families. Our staff is ready to support any needs that your family may have. Please feel free to contact the office or to reach out directly to Tania Uluan, our new community liaison, at 503-431-4255 or if we can support you or your student in any way.

I was born in Morelos, Mexico, and moved to the United States when I was 1 1/2 years old. I am married and have three children; Rebeca who is 7 years old, Daisy who is 5 years old, they both attend Bridgeport Elementary School, and my youngest son is Samuel, he is 4 years old and attends Head Start.

I have lived in Oregon since 2000 and moved to Tigard in 2007. I love nature and the outdoors, that's why summer is my favorite season. In my free time I love to run, play soccer, and spend time with my family. I am very passionate about helping others and it makes me happy to know that I will be working for the community.

Please contact me with questions, concerns or for help with resources. My contact information is:

Student supervision will be provided at 7:50am in the cafeteria. Those students having breakfast can be served starting at 7:50am. Teachers are not available prior to this time. The only exceptions for earlier arrival are: pre-approved clubs, special tutoring arrangements, or by teacher request. Students will be dismissed to their classrooms at 8:00am. Students should be seated and ready to start at 8:10am.

  • 8:00am: Students dismissed to their classrooms 8:10am: School begins

Dismissal and end of the day

If a student needs to leave school during the school day, a parent must come into the office and sign his/her student out. Please be aware that if your student is to go home in a way different than usual, a parent/guardian note is required. If there is no note, the student will go home by his/her normal route. When there are last minute arrangements, a phone call from the parents to the office will be accepted. The call must be received by 1pm to allow time for delivery to the classroom (unless absolute emergency). Student-initiated last-minute changes will not be allowed.

The school day ends at 2:30 pm. Students being picked up must meet their parents in the cafeteria between 2:30pm and 2:40pm. Younger siblings wait in the cafeteria for older siblings before walking home.
